Does this Constellation look right?

Hey everyone!

I saw this at a local flea for $850. I don’t have any movement pics, but do the dial and hands look right? There is some damage on the dial. I’m really debating on pulling the trigger or bargaining for less. They had other pieces that were obvious redials and they aren’t sure of the service history. What do y’all think? Thank you in advance!

And it's heavily polished, which reduces attractiveness of those doglegs even more than on other refs, imo.

To answer the next question: Finding a replacement bezel is basically impossible unless you a) buy a donor watch or b) have a good bezel and can have it reproduced by a goldsmith. Both options would make this not-so-attractive watch incredibly expensive. Many words, which are best summed up with:

hard PASS.

Thanks 😀. I didn't know that the bezel on these is solid gold. So the only things gold plated are the lugs and the crown?

they are gold-capped, not plated.
i.e. a thick layer of gold bonded to a base-metal case. (IIRC ~200 microns as opposed to ~20microns for gold-plated metal)
That is why the bezels are solid gold - because it would be difficult to wrap the thick gold layer around a thin base metal bezel.

Above is enough to pass, but the dial damage indicates water intrusion so the movement has a good chance of damage which would be too much risk for me.

Hard Pass.
