Does the 'Marvin' brand ring any bells?

First, that's a really nice Flying Dutchman. Second It's so cool that you're developing an appreciation for the esoteric in the world of horology, it's really heartening to see because so many people these days have no appreciation whatsoever for mechanical watches or timepieces in general. An Apple watch, while an interesting piece of technology, isn't really a timekeeping device with nuance, history, artistry, fine mechanical engineering, or sheer artistry of style. I could wax poetic but the art of time does not need my poor words. So... good for you. If I stumble upon something more reasonably priced, I'll snatch it up and be in touch with a gift! Third, I'm so super impressed that you discovered the Marvin brand. They're super watches, every bit the equal in my mind of Universal Geneve or even Omega. Good for you friend.
thank you that is very kind of you. I read an article about the flying dutchman on moonphase.fr. I was crazy about polerouters than (still am) But as a belgian with dutch family this had to be in my collection. I spent a year searching for the specific model I wanted. Than came lockdown and i had all the time to hunt everyday. I spent 2 hours per day browsing through the web ( I think I saw every flying dutchman ever posted on the internet) And i finally found one in south africa that sold to someone with a name. Now my investigation began I had a name and a city so i started searching sent him a message on messenger no reply. It turned out he had a law firm so I sent his firm a mail and after a week of anctious waiting I got a reply he had the watch. One of those happy moments in collecting. I can tell it had probably been in south africa for his whole life because the dial has a sort of scortched earch patina. The hunt is half the watch in my opinion.
