Thought it would be even more interesting to ask the same question for the 1967 Omega Speedmaster 145.012-67 Ultraman
Considering we 100% know that already half-a-dozen (of allegedly only 50 produced) Speedmaster 145.012-67 Ultraman show up in the 1968 SF movie “Marooned The Saga Of Ironman One”. So were these easily available and chosen to look matching with the red helmet and red accents on the astronauts’ space suits?
Especially in a time when product placement wasn’t a thing yet… compared to Omega's involvement in the more recent movies:
“The Right Stuff” (1983), “Apollo 13” (1995), “First man” (2018), “Moonfall” (2022) and “Ultraman Omega” (2025).
It would be interesting to know how many Speedmaster Ultraman were used during the making of the late 1960s Japanese Ultra Series “Ultraman” Tsuburaya productions!
From a visit to Omega HQ I remember that in the late 1960s the brand was not contacted by either US or Japanese movie production houses.
