I just noticed one of these recently and thought it was unique. What do owners think?

Apparently not many others find it interesting.

I do, and it's one of the very few Speedmasters I'd ever consider owning.

But then again, as is evident from my profile, I'm not the greatest Speedmaster fan around here 😁

Watchvaultnyc always had a few of these for sale.

Stunning piece just like the grey dialed triple date MK 40 from the 90th (tbh imho even better 😉😉).

Greetings from mine:

I don't own one but never having seen that particular watch before I love the look!

They seem to be gaining a little in value these days. I'm trying to decide if it's too busy for me, but I do like it in photos. I think watchvault's supply may have dried up. I never bought an auto Speedmaster before. This may be a first. Is the movement considered to be solid? Also, if I buy on chrono24 from Japan, what can I expect in the way of hassle, customs costs, taxes?

Yes it is, being originally a Valjoux 7750, the bullettproof swiss chrono mvmt and improved by Omega up to COSC level and now no longer just a working but a race horse. 😀

I stand corrected on watchvaultnyc. They sold several from 2k to 2700 and now have one for sale. Nearly 4k for that one.

View attachment 1407953 After a customs delay, I got my first Speedmaster auto today. I was afraid it would be too busy, but on the wrist, it looks fine. The bracelet came with all the links, and it had a full set. Were these only sold new in Japan? 98 percent of those I see are in Japan.

While trying to find the reason nearly all of these come from Japan, I stumbled upon this article from Fratello. It seemed quite edgy in its portrayal of this forum and its "curmudgeonly" membership.

"Watches like the Omega Speedmaster 3210.52 Casino Dial get relatively little respect and attention in the curmudgeonly Omega forums where Speedmaster collectors provide both correct and dubious information in mass quantities. The reason for this is that Speedy neckbeards tend to disqualify any namesake piece that lacks a hand-winding movement and/or a Hesalite (you risk losing your forum privileges - which you don’t really have until 100’s of inane posts - should you call it “acrylic”) crystal."

Did some of you piss off the "experts" at Fratello? Still, an astute assessment. I especially like the part about mass quantities of correct and dubious info.

I’m absolutely crushed that someone at Fratello is not a fan of this forum...no really...

Weren't the Fratellos the bad guys/family in The Goonies?
Ah, the 80s. Actually, the watch in this thread is kinda 80s. I'll try wearing it with big hair and shoulder pads. Of course, you curmudgeonly types will be too old to have listened to Cyndi Lauper. You were still busy being outraged by bell bottom jeans, that accursed rock n roll, and Goldwater's loss at the polls. I did most of my 20s in the 80s and was sure it would be remembered as the worst decade ever. Kids now, along with Eddie Haskell and Larry Mundello, think it was "swell."

Boldly taking control of my earnings, I decided to splurge on a luxurious watch with the money I earned at The Pokies Casino. As I meticulously counted each hard-earned dollar, I knew that this timepiece would not only serve as a symbol of my success but also as a constant reminder of the thrill and excitement that comes with taking risks and winning big. Investing in myself never felt so empowering than when I adorned myself with this exquisite watch, purchased with the fruits of my labor at https://thepokies.games/ The Pokies Casino. With its sleek design and intricate detailing, this watch is not just a simple accessory; it is a statement piece that exudes sophistication and confidence. Every time I glance down at my wrist, I am reminded of the power and independence that comes from seizing opportunities and making bold choices.

Dunno how I missed it, but I had never seen (or noticed) that reference before.

I’ve long thought that the JDM automatics using the Omegafied 7750 are nice pieces and good value. One of my regular rotation watches in my suit-and-tie days was a 3511.80, which is the blue dial version. Occasionally I see a nice reverse-Panda 3511.50 while rummaging through Yahoo Japan. One of these days I’ll probably buy one, although lately I’ve been Jonesing for a Grand Seiko or two.

Oh, and that Fratello guy is a dope 😀
