Dodgy Rolex ADs?

Just saw these two listings on the Facebook group "Australian Watch Buy Swap and Sell"...

How on earth did these two grey market dealers get these watches so damn quick? My understanding is that this reference was only just revealed at Watches and Wonders a couple of months ago. Dodgy ADs selling them out the back door to their grey market mates? You be the judge. Photos have been redacted to protect the innocent (guilty?)

Unless you're in the market for this specific reference and have been told by an AD that it's not available, why do you care?

Because this type of behavior is what's ruining the hobby right now for so many people. I'm sure nobody wants to see highly sought after watches getting into the hands of flippers. We all want to see these pieces getting into the hands of those who genuinely appreciate them, whilst not having to enrich some scalper in the process.

Previously normal customers have become flippers. With the amount of profit people can make for very little effort, it is not surprising really.

First world problem.

With all the wonderful watches of excellent quality being produced today (by a variety of brands), I find it very hard to sympathize with people who want the same luxury item that everyone else wants (GMT-Masters, Daytona's, Nautiluses, Royal Oaks).

Also, I believe many of those customers that would "genuinely appreciate" these watches, often feel very differently once the watch is in their hands and they can potentially make thousands of dollars.

True. But the point I'm trying to make is that these watches are likely being sold direct from the AD to known professional grey dealers rather than Mr Joe Average wanting to cash in on their good fortune.

Yes. I know it's old news. But as someone relatively new to the watch game and still bright eyed and bushy tailed, I like to think there's still some decency left in the world 😁

To each their own I guess. I know if it was me, I'd be holding on to that grail piece for dear life. I'd only sell if I desperately needed the cash.

It’s the least desirable reference out of the GMT line. I see them popped up for sale several times since announced. I turned one down for the Leftie GMT.
