I always hated them, until I ended up owning one which I picked up at an auction in the cotswolds. A truly over polished example, but its mine (at least for the moment)

This is what yours would look like with a little sun 😀

Even though I HATE wearing anything more formal than a collared shirt and wear only tool watches, I must admit the Datejust is on my short list. The poor thing will likely only be worn once every few months, I have the craving for one.

This is my first Rolex a 1501 from 1970 34mm and I have been very hesitant to get me a Rolex earlier but I got one for my daughter and was sold I needed one for myself and I absolutely love it and I’m looking for a yellow gold daydate and hope to find me a decent one for a decent price soon.

Never thought I was into Rolex watches but got this beautiful 1601 in a trade. Hasn't left my wrist since. The dial was originally black gilt and has become very tropical with the gilt lettering preserved underneath. Also love the alpha hands like others in this thread!

Datejust is very classy but I'd take sport model if I'm to choose my first Rolex

Datejusts come in so many different variations ! plain, white or yellow gold, engine turned bezels, fatboy, alpha hands, thunderbirds, countless dial colors... That's why I love them so much, there is almost one for anyone. While I own is probably the most common model (1601 with silver dial), the blue sunburst is a favorite of mine. So versatile ! Not a fan of the modern ones though.

Amazing

Beautiful watch. I have the smooth and fluted bezels on my two Datejust watches but my favorite bezel is the machined bezel that your Datejust has. The machined bezel is no longer available. Looks like you may have a collectible watch.

You're absolutely right. Can't go wrong with some lovely alpha hands. I've been wearing this a bunch lately.

I really like that - what model and year is it?

I bought a "Datejust" at auction, attracted to it because it was simple - I can't get on with the fluted bezels on some, or the roman dial markers. Simple batons, plain bezel, that's what I want.

Trouble was, I didn't realise until it arrived that the "Datejust" was actually a Pepetual Date (so 34mm) with a dial that said Datejust... so back it went, fortunately for a full refund. The search goes on...

I've been a bit obsessed with wide-boy no lume datejust these past weeks.

Does anyone know whether the no-lume variant were only available in the 1601-1603 series? Or are they available in the smooth bezel 1600 as well?

1966 ref 1500. It’s so simple looking. Not sure of Tudor counts ..

Some lovely photos. I am not a huge fan of the DJ...but some of the vintage ones do look gorgeous...I have a tough time dealing with the cyclops on the DJs...l can tolerate them on the Sports models. Prefer the Globemaster over the modern DJ but both are great watches😀
