This is probably the favorite one I’ve ever owned...1601 with sunburst blue wide boy dial.

They're an invitation to get away from the slightly po-faced sobriety of Rolex's tool-watch staples, although since this 6694 doesn't have a quickset date, it doesn't strictly qualify as a Datejust.

Although, I know many might disagree. My favorite is my modern Datejust II 41mm, white face with Oyster bracelet. Modern look with classic style.

Yup! these I do like 👍 ...simple dial, old school, and classic! 😀

I like early ones with alpha hands.

(not my watch)

Yup like the early ones too.

You're absolutely right. Can't go wrong with some lovely alpha hands. I've been wearing this a bunch lately.

Datejusts come in so many different variations ! plain, white or yellow gold, engine turned bezels, fatboy, alpha hands, thunderbirds, countless dial colors... That's why I love them so much, there is almost one for anyone. While I own is probably the most common model (1601 with silver dial), the blue sunburst is a favorite of mine. So versatile ! Not a fan of the modern ones though.

That yellow is pretty fabulous Tim. Not really discrete and retiring though

The alpha hands seem to be the nicest to me, although everyone here has a lovely watch.

When I was much younger (currently 30) I thought this was the epitome of a luxury watch and lusted after one. Now I am not sure if I like them because I wanted one for so long or because I actually like them. I look at the cost of a new model and think there are so many awesome watches that can be had for this price, and I am drawn in a different direction. Time will tell...

Not really my cup of tea, but could see myself picking up a vintage day/date to have for certain occasions.

I always hated them, until I ended up owning one which I picked up at an auction in the cotswolds. A truly over polished example, but its mine (at least for the moment)

Extremely accurate. Understated. At 36mm, a little small on my 7-1/2" wrist but still gets a fair amount of wrist time. A family heirloom so definitely not going anywhere.
