Do I Need a Master Coaxial?

I've been looking at used Aqua Terra's lately and have been watching to see if they have silicon hairsprings. But what about the balance wheel? Has that changed from the pre-master co-axial editions to now? In other words, what else should I be looking for in earlier 8500 AT's?

I looked up some articles and it seems that the Aqua Terra had the si14 installed in 2008. I would want one with that installed if I were shopping around. For $500 more you have more color options in the second hand of the Aqua terras with the anti mag. I have the golf captains watch. I personally favored the color combos. The weight of the watch is perfect for me. But if you don't want to pay the extra money call a boutique to make sure the model has the Si14. Private message me if you have any other questions.

Any 8500 that is a B revision or higher will have a silicon balance and spring.

So a watch with an 8500A would not have the silicon balance and spring, but an 8500B or G would.

Thanks Al! Is there a way for the novice to tell if the movement is a 8500B or higher? If the spring is silicon, will the balance wheel necessarily be silicon as well? I've always seen references to the spring but not the wheel.

The movement will have the version on the main plate, and on the silicon versions, the balance wheel will have Si14 marked on one of the spokes of the wheel.

Cheers, Al

My eyes are not good. Is that gtuck or gf++= 😬 I think I worked it out!

Needs Vs. wants. I'm sure you can work that one out by now! Personally, I want, but I do not need a master Co-Axial, but wow, they are very cool!

Good luck and please display pics of your decision, or... "it didn't happen!" Which is just a euphemism for "you're wasting our time." With all the sincerity and fun that a post at 3:20am on New Years Days has..

Happy New Year!

Very good guys! ROFL A healthy and happy new year to you all!

As to the AT. I'm at the lusting stage. We'll see. Considering I already bought three watches this year, I'm crazy to even
consider it. But crazy is what many of us are!
