Speaking of bottle cap collecting. I had a friend who absolutely hated Disney. Seems they were selling such collectables at a flea market. Selling illustrations of a generic baby deer (fawn) which was on a button. They claimed a ceist and deceist order and were told they were infringing on the Bambi trademark and Copyright.
Even more interesting. After Wizard of Oz came out. The mouse fired the girl who did the voice of snow white, as she had one line in the competitors film. Most of the voice actors went unaccredited and poorly paid.
After WoZ the mouse bought everything. So with Bambi they got the hound of Flanders (which became the Shaggy Dog franchise) John Carter of Mars gave them Tarzan (or vice versa) They even held the rights to the Tolkien and Lewis books until the 1984 bankruptcy (such were sold off in the 1970s)
If you really want to see the dark side of Mortimer Mouse, look up the history of Pluto and the artist who created it. The artists all had to write tell all books in retirement as they were left without any pension.
Then there was Art Babbit. Who took his case to the supreme court and won. In retaliation Walt named names at the HUAC anti commie hearings and destroyed many carriers.
The copyrights and IP of all of this stuff was assigned to Walt.
Did I ever mention I was a fan of Roy Oliver Disney. (not to be confused with his sone Roy E. Disney -- the most hated man in Hollywood.)
Walt really did disinherit his nephew.
Oh the people Walt and Roy fired? They formed a group called UPA and went on to make the Charlie Brown/Snoopy cartoons. Mostly they did TV advertising Mr Magoo was their other popular character.
I doubt Omega ever had a Disney license.
