I’ve known several people who go every year. The worst part of that is, they love to talk about. Before, “yup, I’m taking the missus to Disney world again.” Again? How often do you go? “Since the kids were little. They’re in their thirties now, and we all still meet there. Every year. I can hardly wait!”

I took my then six year old son. Once was enough. Even a six year old thought it was weird. He’s 25 now and in the Army. I wonder if he’ll ever take his family? Probably not. But then again, I suspect he’ll hold off on marriage and family for years to come anyway.

That is hideous to me but there is a guy a run into at the watch shop who collects and sells nothing but Disney/Mickey mouse watches. Seems he does well. Haven’t been to Disney world since I was seven. I would not rush to go nor do I have plans to go but I do love haunted houses and sick roller coaster type things. But I can’t take long lines etc so I’d probably pass unless I was in Florida and was talked into it.
I’ve been looking at some of bulovas offerings on joma and the couple I liked style wise were quartz which is fine but I didn’t like them enough to jump on anything. This will probably be popular with a niche crowd that is probably bigger than I think but I’d take a mechanical Vostok over that thing.

I haven't been to Disneyland/World since the late 70's and have no desire to go back. Once Michael Eisner took over in 1984 the focus was on monetizing everything Disney, he made investors very happy but it was all about the bottom line, and it still is. The name Disney is golden for many people, it's kind of like the Apple and Tesla names, many devoted fans who will follow and buy whatever they offer.

Bulova can do some things right, their 50th Anniversary Spaceview was a winner, but this new Disney job is wretched.

I don’t hate the Spaceview but the scraps of Bulova that Citizen have propped up into a functioning business is mostly high street junk and they’ve been dining out on Spaceview models more than Panerai did with the Luminor and Radiomirs

I have never and never will set foot in “dizzy world” as my late father in law called it. Like Las Vegas, it is an artificial place for people too scared to travel to real places. I always marvel when I meet folks who go to either several times per year, one shudders.

I agree with this sentiment 100%, but living in the Tampa Bay area, friends and family like to go to Orlando and expect us to travel to meet them at DW. After the 40th Anniversary fiasco, the closest i will get is the Disney Springs area, and that is still a lot to ask.

for someone who’s never stepped foot in the place, that’s a strong view!

I know a person or two who - wait for it - travel to real places and DW

me? I don’t like lines.

I found the " knob on the side" that designed the watch!

He's from Cylon?

No stranger to Florida or unfortunately Orlando. An hour away is a place called Cape Canaveral. It’s very real. Another question I’ve asked … Did you visit the Cape? … Blank look…

Been to Las Vegas once for a weeklong conference, after spending the prior week in Istanbul. That was enough.

Now that was worth visiting for sure. The sheer scale of things there isn’t something you can fully appreciate until you see in IRL.

Standing beside a Saturn 5 engine was just spectacular...

It’s funny, I think far less about why a family might go to Disney, and far more about how they might afford it all - it’s incredible to think what a family of four might burn for a week, all in.

With a 3.5 and 2 year old, my wife looks forward to taking the kids to Disney. While they’re there, I’ve not decided where I’ll visit 😗

I don't disagree with your perspective that these properties are artificial places, but you must be aware what the tech industry is planning for the 'Metaverse'. Slip the VR headset on and actually live in an artificial universe while never leaving your apartment/home. At least at a Disney property you are in the real world, as controlled as it is, but this new world Zuckerberg and his tech compatriots are cooking up is a totally fake, in your head, world. It won't do anything for human interaction, but it will make these guys even more wealthy than they are now as they suck people into it. It won't end well for future generations.

One would think that they could have wiped all the fingerprints from the bracelet before the photo session....

Just sayin'.

I don’t like the watch but I love/hate the Disney brand, it’s gotten downhill the parks are like a cruise experience, i love taking my kids and have been taking them at least once a year, not this year but we do plan on going sometime in between the 50th anniversary.

Everything at the parks is now a la carte. The fandom is real and it does suck Disney can do nothing wrong in their eyes but I’m like they suck I just go for the nostalgia factor and some of that Disney magic. They out priced me as a consumer a long time ago though…

Take it easy boomer. Lots of people travel all over the world and enjoy taking their kids to Disney parks.

I really wonder who spec’d the design on this. Looks like something you would have gotten from a street vendor in front of the Empire State Building in the 80’s, next to the miniature Statue of Liberty and I heart NY t-shirts.
