It seems the OP's watch, which I feel is completely authentic, sold on 9 March for $2,405.00 on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Uni...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network After being featured on Hodinkee... http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/whats-selling-where--from-pateks-at-christies-dubai-to-mor These are hot now and there's a new one on ebay now... http://www.ebay.com/itm/50-s-Classi...-SSteel-/291439667719?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Here's another dial without Polerouter Sub written on it, sorry for the first pic it's on my old computer I can't remember where I got it...
Yes, it has a lot of wear, the ad says "Original cross-hair Black Dial with signs of aging and some light scratches, never repainted". Looks original (and over 50 years old) to me?
I don't believe those indices just disappear with age. It's also important to consider that the fading is not consistent over the dial. Some indices are far more visible than others. It's more likely that the redialer coated the dial too heavily (and unevenly).
If you are talking about the round hour dots/marker they aren't on the versions (with the Flèche hands) that I have seen. There is only a plain outer minute tick. Some of them appear to be faded/gone but these photos are poor and black dials are notoriously hard to photograph. Maybe somebody can find some versions that have them, I just haven't seen one. The dial looks legit to me.
Could someone help me out and tell me what's the correct crown design for the bumper broad arrow models? Also diameter measurements would be really handy
Post script: the advertisement above shows us what is already known: the existence of broad arrows on PolArouter/bumper models. Does anyone have similar ads for Microtor models?
I suspect the broad arrow micro rotors are indeed how the watches left the factory. How many broad arrow hand sets have you seen knocking about? I haven't seen any, so I think it's unlikely some Frankenstein can create an army of monsters with them, given the rarity of the part. IMO it's much more interesting to see that some broad arrows left the factory with a light dial... I've not seen any pictures of such a watch.
Talking about those nice Polerouter Broad Arrow. Here is one more : This one has a Microtor (no date) with lumed ring.
I, unfortunately, can't get this at the moment. I have been looking for a long time, and although it will not be this one, there will be one! I've added the pictures for future references because these eBay links tend to disappear. For now, I guess it's open season for you guys. In case you're wondering, he will take 1500 euros for it. Look at that I'm such a good man that not only do I give you a link to a rare, desirable watch, I just saved you 250 euros. I hope it finds a nice home and this posting is a dibs to anyone who buys it. http://www.ebay.fr/itm/VINTAGE-UNIV...237367?hash=item1a14825c77:g:nPwAAOSwV-RXFMAfPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Post-publication reflection: On second thought, since I'm such a nice fellow (and not bad looking) if you guys want to get together and offer it to me for finishing my Ph.D., fell free to do so. I would also be looking for a job in agronomy research, international development starting in September/October. I'm free to travel anywhere in the world. You never know!
Here's 2 of the last 3 to sell on Ebay. One with fake hands and probably falsely lumed chapter ring and the second one a redial. The text doesn't look gilt and the applied logo is too high above Universal.
Hello peeps. Sorry for the reply 1 year afterwards, but I was wondering if the hands on this stunner could be original or not ? I have seen some microrotor Polerouters with arrow hands, but I've never seen a polerouter date with these hands... Any thoughts ? Thnaks in advance !
Thanks for your quick reply. What makes you think the arrow hands are not correct ? I'm asking in order to best understand the reference
