Right....
There's absolutely no video evidence nor witnesses to that ever happening so you can't prove it in court.

"All was going fine until Todd reached up his hand to give a pat and Mr.Skippy spotted the Speedmaster on his arm."

The photos exaggerated it a bit. Should look pretty minor in real life. I will leave it.

If you lose sleep over it. Buy a new spare and keep it. Replace after this existing one gets badly dinged.
Would the OB be the place to pick one up, or can they be sourced from elsewhere? (I'm in the USA, btw).

Depends on how much it bothers you. Yes, you can replace it and it might get dinged again but that does not stop you from replacing it again and again and again if you can afford it. It basically comes down to how much are you willing to throw at your watch to keep it looking near-mint.

I don't think you'll find any squirrels at the OB. They all buy grey market.

PS: Aren't you a little big to be dating a squirrel? The bars are supposed to be a good place to pick up girls.

The metal part of the bezel which looks as though where the damage is(as opposed to the insert?), is part of the case so replacing is not an option without replacing the whole case .

I believe you are incorrect.

It's the ring around the insert which is definitely part of the bezel. It has nothing to do with the case.

The bezel is not part of the case - it can be replaced.

Fingers can be replaced if they are intact and you find them in the sawdust...

All healed at present. You can't be too careful with fingers, you only get 10.

That's strange then, I scuffed this part on my old Soyuz and during service with Omega/Swatch they informed me it was part of the case and could not be replaced on its own.

I stand corrected, no idea why they told me that though.

One possible reason for your specific situation...

Not all of these cases were made by the same company, so Omega used several over the years. There are certain instances where the current supply of replacement bezels won't fit on some older cases. If you need a new bezel (or case back) for one of these specific cases that the current replacement parts don't fit, then the only choice is to replace the entire case. Omega usually gives a very reduced price on a new case in these circumstances.

I'm guessing, but the most likely scenario is that your case fell into this problem, and when they explained it something was lost in translation. The people who do the talking often have no technical knowledge or training, so it's easy for them to get confused regarding the specifics on something like this. Easier for them to simply tell you it's part of the case than to explain why they don't make the correct replacement parts any longer.

Look around the forum and you will find lots of photos of bezels removed from Speedmasters.

Cheers, Al

That's interesting Al, thanks for taking the time to type that, I guess that was likely the situation. Happy to know otherwise now though, at least should I damage the bezel of my ST I'll know there's at least a chance of getting it replaced.
