Did the Speedmaster 861 make it to the Moon's surface? Yes, at least a piece of its surface.👍

You know I had to be that guy.

And I had to track down its origin Lunar Sample 70215,287

Well, there's still the hestilite crystal from David Scott's Speedmaster lost somewhere in in the Frau Mauro area of the Moon. I suppose the curators at the Air & Space Museum have already installed a replacement.

I’m pretty sure we have verified that one went around the moon as part of the heat flow experiment, but none went to the surface.

Well at least confirmed around the moon with no questions. Proving the negative is always hard.

The case back on my 1976 145.022 861 says the first watch worn ON the moon. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 😁
