    Hello!

I recently had the bezel on my 1st gen SMPc replaced under warranty. I noticed that the scalloping on replacement bezel is much more dull and rounded than the original bezel. Is it possible that I received a bezel that has been polished/refurbished from Omega? Does anybody know if Omega refurbishes parts and then allows them to be put back into circulation? I’d be a little disappointed if the bezel does turn out to be polished as I would have just preferred to keep the original bezel.

More of the replacement bezel. Little difficult to take a good picture!

Why did you have the original bezel replaced? Was the ceramic cracked? I didn’t see any obvious problem in the pictures.

The bezel numerals were faded. I actually see a lot of seamasters with this issue, I guess people don’t know it’s a defect and covered under warranty. It actually looks kinda cool in some lighting but I enjoy using my bezel to time stuff and to actually help read time and the numbers were impossible to see in low light. Here’s a comparison pic of another Seamaster I had with a normal bezel vs the faded.

You just threw away the Ghost of Bond Bezel and thousands of dollars when they become rare and much sought after.

Future collectors will say "nyet.....the bezel's been replaced! Improper patina. Pass."

Maybe they polished the bezel and just replaced the insert. This is a problem with big brand service centers ... they are like a black box. You will never find out what actually happened.

My vote goes to a heavyhanded polishing of the original bezel.

Normally I’d agree with this but they actually showed me the two bezels side by side to show the difference before the gave me back the watch
