I didn't know where else to post this question and after being here for the short time that I have been a member, I feel that I might be able to get an answer from fellow forum members. This morning I saw a Bulova self-winding medical watch with the outside dial having a pulsations ring and above the six o'clock marker was the caduceus. The dial was a sliver colour and the case was gold filled with a steel case back. I've seen the medical dial Accutrons but have never seen a vintage self-winding model with the pulsations markings. Has anyone seen these? Sadly no pictures, as I wasn't permitted to take any.
Thanks Al. I signed up and my account was accepted and I've logged on and posted. Wait and see now. I noticed the dial looks very much like the Accutron 214 pulsations dial so I wonder if this dial was refinised at some time.
Here's a picture of the dial. I'm leaning towards refinished. And I was wrong in my first post--the movement is hand wind not self-winding.
Curious how it could be a redial given the marker spacing allowing for the pulsations print. If it's a redial, looks like a really well done one to me...
Honestly, my feeling that it might be a redial comes from the fact that I can't find anything that looks like this online. That's not a good gauge of whether a dial is original or not but with the flaking on the center of the dial I'm just not sure. Here's an Accutron 214 pulse dial and it looks like the one pictured above.
Thanks everyone for giving your thoughts on this one. The seller has it priced a bit more than I usually like to spend so I'm really giving this some thought and want to make sure I get something that's original. I haven't been able to find any comparable sales so I'm having a tough time deciding if the asking price is fair.
An interesting thread on various caduceus watches here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/ultra-chron-pulsus-date-at-6-one-for-steve-martin.29644/
Is ironic the right word to describe a 50 dollar watch having one of the nicest re-dials I've ever seen? No, no, no, I'm afraid there's zero percent chance that's a re-dial.
I'm new here so I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know if you're being sarcastic joking or if you mean the dial is original
It has to be original - I've seen a lot of stupid crap over the years but I've never seen anyone put a good effort into a Bulova re-dial. It would be like putting a $10k paint job on a Smart Car...
