I am looking at buying my first omega watch somewhere soon. This one popped up and I am curious on what you guys think. I think the 9 is too far to the right and I think all the hour markers look to be to thin compared to other watches.

IMO dial looks ok many dial variations Case ok not overly polished. These usually have alpha hands which are more desirable the hands here may be replacements. Movement looks ok
Comes down to price. What is asking?

This one is not listed yet so I just need to make an offer. Is <350 reasonable? cause then I will just make an offer of 250 and look from there, about the alpha hands, is that something to look into to replace these with in the future, or are those hardly ever on the market?

Which type of alpha hands should be in this watch?

I did some research myself before I made a thread here, I know that it is from 1958 from the number in the movement, and I looked up that a caliber 285 is a hand wind. But I have no clue what a watch in this condition is worth since every watch from an online retailer is priced way higher then the second hand market. So my own idea was to make an offer of 250 but I wanted to know what you guys think. Cause clearly I am new to this game and you guys are not.

There are a huge number of vintage Omega watches for sale at any given time, and this is not one to pursue.

The dial, though original, features "embossed" indices, which are degraded. The image of the case back is misleading, and the (many) scratches would be much more noticeable in person. The case has been polished, and the hands appear to be incorrect replacements.

I suggest that you find a (much) better example.

When trying to research watches:

the reference number is inside Caseback.

Once you have that you can search OF and google and lots of examples will show up. Use advanced search option on OF search threads and put in ref number on title.

If you don’t have reference number available the use google lens that often leads you to correct reference.

Very many dial variations for each reference

Try this for future research.
