Perhaps the watchmaker put it in the case a little rough?
The edge of the dial is where deterioration is most likely to start. This sort of damage is common on dials, and isn’t related to installation. It could be from moisture, although that isn’t always the case.
On vintage dials, Omega will test the finish at the edge of the dial to see if it is lifting, and if it is, they will require a new dial, or a dial refinish.
Do you know roughly how much a new dial is from Omega? Are we talking like $300 or $1000
I'll probably have the dial replaced next overhaul in a few years, though I'm wondering if this dial would be available then. This one was apparently overhauled a few months ago.
Yup - not done by Omega, and somebody left a fingerprint on the moon in the moonphase! I'll definitely take a look at the movement when it arrives. Seems amateur for a watchmaker to leave fingerprints on anything
thanks so much for the help
