Hello OFers,

I came across an eBay listing for a 2577-11 with cal 354 (serial 13,366,851). The watch has an interesting dial (and red seconds hand) that I haven't seen on this reference before, so I thought I'd run it by the forum for their opinions. My understanding is that by cal 354 / 13.3m serial, we would expect to see the Seamaster text on the dial, but this one doesn't. I'd like to bid, but hesitant that this could be a redial or franken. What do you think?

I avoid sellers who cannot take and post clear, unmanipulated photos so the watch can be properly evaluated.

I have a 2577-4 cal 351 which doesn’t have 'Seamaster' on the dial and a 12****** serial number which dates it as 1950.

I also have a 2767 cal 354 that does have Seamaster on the dial and a 14****** movement number.

This probably doesn’t help particularly.

The seller says the dial is original but I’d be suspicious about that and I don’t recall seeing another watch like it. The case is heavily polished and, although the watch is photographed on some sort of document, I presume it’s to add authenticity, the actual document isn’t photographed and doesn’t seem to have any connection with Omega that I could see.

I'd probably avoid it.

Interesting, I had a 2577-1 with a very similar red hand. No idea if it was original, but I liked it. It was a 12.0M

Sometimes I look back at watches I've sold and wonder why. 😟

I‘m sure the dial doesn’t belong in this watch, original or not.

Everything checks out: 13.3m serial with the non-beveled lugs (not too extensively polished by the way), the cal 354 (instead of earlier 351s), the -11 sub reference.

Only the dial should have the word Seamaster on the bottom as you correctly pointed out.

Compare the table:

Based on what I'm hearing, I am going to steer away. Thanks everyone for their replies!
