Yes all the "pre-moon" Speedmasters from 1959 up through 145.022-69 have this engraving. In around 1971 it changed to text on the back. Often it is worn down, yours shows very nice detail, good photos. Much of the cross hatching detail is not visible to naked eye alone- I never noticed all the the detail myself- thanks for sharing the photos.

My gut says someone added the decoration later, since the caseback has been polished so heavily.
But would be happy to be proved wrong.

Its a kind of strange thing, never seen before. But who puts so much effort in something like this.
Its really a small artwork, iam sure it cant be done by hand.

yes the caseback is worn and polished.

I think the entire engraving looks a little off. The font and logo especially. But let's wait for others to chime in.

some details:

I love the thought of someone taking the time and effort to dress up this caseback. It shows a great admiration for Omega.

Thanks for posting.

Apologies @Marcel81 i misunderstood your initial post this is clearly a unique Seamonster engraving !
Somehow I thought I had missed this but it’s clearly not present on my examples. I wonder if a master engraver went over an existing caseback and added the minute details?

Certainly this can be done by hand. There is amazing hand engraving on antique jewelry that is much finer and more detailed. But it is true that someone was willing to put a lot of effort into decorating the back of their watch. It's very fun to see that.
