·I am (by American standards) a thin guy with a 6.5" wrist (165mm for you metric types) which means that I have trouble pulling off a large watch. I had to get rid of my fabulous DSOTM speedy because at 44mm it just dwarfed my svelte waif-like arms. This is me with my 42mm Speedy Sammich that I'm wearing today:
which looks too big from other angles... but in this cropped fuzzy pic doesn't look too bad.
So, now I'm leaning toward the planet ocean. I like the kind-of subtle orange highlights, especially on the strap with orange stitching. My wife said that it looks "interesting" which is her way of saying that she doesn't like it, but gave me permission to get it. I don't "need" permission, but it's always polite to ask first. Pic of 39.5mm version on bracelet:
So... here's the dilemma/question:
First, none at my AD to try on.
Second, not much available at a decent discount at greys, Chrono24 or the 'bay. I'll have to do more searching, but I only found one used one here in our classifieds so far, and he's waiting on a replacement to come in. Not sure how long that will take.
Third, I can't decide between the 37.5 and 39.5. 2mm isn't all that much, but I've found a new grey market 37.5mm for $1200 less than the cheapest (grey) new 39.5 so far. And with my tiny wrists, I can rock a 37.5 without an issue. And if it turns out to look awkward (it is still a tall watch) I can send it back for a minimal fee.
I'm really leaning toward the 37, but I am fickle, I do flip watches frequently, it's not a matter of "if" but "when" and I fear that it will be very difficult to sell it when the time comes. Although, I suppose for the price difference, it may not matter in the end.
Maybe I'm missing something else, so I thought I'd ask the brain trust here for their thoughts, opinions and advice.
I prefer the strap, but I'm OK with buying the bracelet edition and sourcing a strap elsewhere.
39.5 model number on a strap: 215.33.40.20.01.001
39.5 on bracelet: 215.30.40.20.01.001
37.5 pm strap: 232.33.38.20.01.001
37.5 does not appear to be available on a bracelet
If price was no object, I'd get the 39.5mm ceramic, but it's too expensive for me.
Thanks!
Michael
