NTTD decision/opinion

I’ve cut down my collection a lot recently. I like what I have now overall with the speedy being the versatile work, dress, sport watch and my PO being the chunky beast diver with flash. For my third slot I wanted a light field or diver that I can take on trips or adventures. I absolutely love divers so I got the NTTD.

Quick background is I always loved the looks and design of seamasters 300m but i’ve really had a hard time finding one that’s perfect. I owned the great white modern version and then the all black. I liked both of those but they felt a little chunky and seemed to overlap with my PO as flashy divers so i let them go. I then got the older Casino Royale followed by the Brosnan SmP and really enjoyed them both as they wore beautifully but when I saw the NTTD I had to have it. So those were sold.

The NTTD to me looks absolutely brilliant but after a year two things really bugged me, the difficulty with visibility in a lot of lower lighting conditions and the fact that even the short mesh didn’t fit me well. I sold the watch in April but then instantly regretted it. I figured I could fill that slot with a pelagos 39, great looking titanium diver. The pelly is the whole package with great legibility and fantastic bracelet, but unfortunately it lacked that oomph of the NTTD. So I got rid of it and rebought the nttd on nato.

The nato version solves fit issues but the low light legibility has once again been bugging me a little. other than that i love the watch but can’t help thinking if i made the right move. For those folks who own this watch what do you think? Do you just count this as one shortcoming and move on or look elsewhere?

Hmmm… 02882. Are you in Narragansett?

Back on topic, have you tried a modern white dial 300M?

Personally the low legibility doesn't bother me at all, but I am similarly trying to decide if the watch overall still sings to me. I have had it for a little over 1 year...

Yes I tried both the white and the black. Feel like it overlaps with my PO a bit

Was it the crystal shape that caused the legibility issue for you, or the color of the hands against the dial?

I personally couldn't stand the readability issue, and ended up with the standard black ceramic model. Love the hell outta that

I’ve had my eye on the NTTD for awhile and probably at some point will be looking to sell/trade my Trilogy Seamaster for it. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.

Anymore, I look less for the perfect watch and more for the watch that makes me happy. I used to own a Pelagos and while I enjoyed it, it felt a bit bland. All this to say, I would focus less on some of the little things and ask yourself, "Does this watch make me happy?"

I am not a fan of the design of the NTTD Seamaster 300m diver. There was a collegaue in my previous workplace who had it on the titanium mesh strap, who was very nice to let me try it on. While the watch looked ok on my wrist, I didn't like the foe patena in the dial and the bezel. It is a very lite watch due to the titanium used in it's construction and the mesh stap was very comfortable. Even with the additional bump in the underside of my wrist with the deployment clasp.

Call me old fashioned but when I hear Omega Seamaster 300m diver my thought automatically goes back to the Brosnan Omega Seamaster 300m diver in blue with the 7 link metal bracelet
