Those astronauts always appear to have good hair days.

How do they do that?

I want to do that...

Lol! This is awesome! They failed to mention that you need to buy Dawn dish detergent to get it off your hands after you run them through someone’s hair when using Brylcreem

So my question from the Ed White thread still stands: If the original color was always off-white, and the technology exists to make off-white non-tritium lume, why did it ever change to stark white?

And somewhat related, if the original tachy bezel inserts were DON, why did those change to DNN?

They can’t blow their load in one shot- they need to make this LE, then revise it in another LE, then they will make the correct bracelet (only available with that LE) and so it will go

Here is how I see it, looking at Speedies, the color changed from shades of canary-yellow/cream to shades of lime/mint green round 74/75...then round 84/85 it turned to that very-toffee color that people love and is found consistently without variation on the ‘90s’ Speedies no matter what condition (that, by the misconception that most folks have should be called ‘faux’ by them, but is not)...and then, round 97/98 when the whole watch industry turned from tritium to luminova (or superluminova), and the t’s were removed from the dials, it simultaneously turned ‘mental asylum white’ as Syrte calls it. Perhaps that was a way to mark the new non radioactive dials? Who can say.

As to the ‘tech’ for coloring these compounds...it is as simple as food coloring for example.

Regarding the bezels...I have no concrete idea. Maybe bezel makers got bored? Or had to keep the typographist busy? Edit: they most certainly didn’t care about future collectors fascination with period specific typography (as the difference between a DON and a DNN is more than a dot...another widely spread misconception😀 )

Upon carefully studying the photographs I have discovered that that man (red arrow pointing) has failed to properly maintain his standard issued uniform as per service regulations.

Here is a close-up.

Looks like a Benrus... It seems to run slow by a few minutes. Needs a good service.
