Aalborg, Gothenburg, Copenhagen. I'm in!
Let's stay away from Oslo though. A night out can end up in DON bezel money, per person🙁.

Cheers!

And do not forget the smörrebröd and the Aalborg! Two of the best things from our Danish brothers! These are cheaper copies made by me though... Let us get the real thing.

If you come up with a date let me know! I have seen some of your watches, here and in the vintage section at KS, and I think we have some mutual interests.

Got it from my watchmaker yesterday. Force fed it a 19mm Rios art manuel, alligator.

What a wonderful watch! I have that feeling I used to have in the beginning of my watch career. It is not a very valuable watch, nor is it colourful or special in any other way either - but I really feel for this one. In the end the watchmaker and I decided on a "clover" crown. The other crown might have been original but as I intend to use this one - I wanted something that holds humidity out as much as possible.

Here it is -. my new love:

Wonderful JE! That´s a real beauty, and no need to apologise, that you like it!

Who could imagine that, seeing the before pictures... What a terrific restoration job 👍

Nice. Didn't know they made those in a non-luminous version.

I had one many years ago but it was associated with my ex-wife so I gave it to her. I've always liked that model otherwise.

Wow, couldn't imagine it would look that great! 🥰 Congrats to you (on the watch and on having such a great watchmaker) and to the watchmaker on the great job! And by the way - DIBS.

Thank you all!

Yes - my watchmaker is a gem. He has been very influential on my collection over the years. It is funny - the first watchmakers shop I walked in to in 2006 happened to be, in my opinion, the best vintage watchmaker in Sweden. Years passed and over time we have built up a very good relationship. It often starts with him telling me about some parts he has - and I then find a corresponding watch to buy. For instance - "this is my last NOS crown for XXX" or "I have a bezel for XXX" or "I would love to work on a XXX". He lets me take care of the watchcases myself, which I really appriciate, and he does the rest. He is in his mid to late sixties (fit like a thirty year old), from Austria and schooled in watchmaking in Switzerland. Been living most of his life in Sweden. His shop is small, he does not sell any watches - he just services them. The shop has an aged wooden interior and the walls are covered with all sorts of old to ancient tools and machines for watchmaking. He is not particularly interested in watches as in collecting but he loves and collect all things that has to do with working with them.

I have long been contemplating a post presenting him and his small beautiful shop to a broader audience. He has a high degree of integrity and/but I will try to get him to agree on me interviewing him and to take some pictures. It might need some convinceing...

Longevity in the hobby and expansion of the collection not to mention working on the countless projects that seem to pop up all the time necessitate having a reliable watchmaker(s) with a huge advantage to having someone local.

That's a great Seamaster for sure. My crown has also seen better days and at the last service a few years ago when I inherited it, the technician said that I really should have it replaced. I'm a little hesitant since it goes back to my grandfather, but may do it the next time if I can find a clover leaf crown.

Got it from my watchmaker yesterday. Force fed it a 19mm Rios art manuel, alligator.
