Hello all members,😁😀

For the jumbo constellation, normally we can divide it into date or no date version.
The date version will be the reference 168.001, 14777 and 14395, while the no date version will be the ref. 14396 and 14778.
We believe that these jumbo constellations were produced indeed for the Asian market.

For anyone who are interested in jumbo constellation please click the following link:
https://omegaforums.net/threads/sho...1-14777-14778-14395-and-14396-allowed.109416/

I will specifically discuss about the omega reference 14395 in this thread.

The reference 14395 was named as “Daddy of the Jumbo Omega Constellations” by Desmond (@mondodec ) https://omega-constellation-collectors.blogspot.com/2014/12/the-14395-daddy-of-jumbo-omega.html
May I call @mondodec to shed some light, why he call the reference 14395 as “Daddy”, how about the reference 14396?

My research found only “6 examples” of reference 14395 with an original dial. Please let me call @Shabbaz and @Banner Roar .😀

The reference 14395 use the caliber 504 which only 25,000 pieces of the caliber 504 were made. The vast majority of which appeared in the press-in case back model constellation calendar like 2943.

The other constellation model that used the caliber 504 were the reference 14395, and quite uncommon reference like 14747 and 14397.

At first, I believe that the reference 14397 was the “jumbo” size constellation too (like 14395 and 14396)

However, I found this “Vintage Omega plexi interchangeability and case reference plexi-case list” posted in this forums by @michael e .

Please be informed that both of the reference 14747 and 14397 used the same size, but the reference 14395 (also 14396) used the larger size.

So, I believe that the reference 14747 and 14397 might not be the jumbo reference.
Waiting @hoipolloi to confirm my assumption of his 14397.😁

Today I would like to share another one in my collection, the reference 14395 with the “shadow striped dial” pattern (or tapestry dial).
Please note that the only example that I found using the same dial pattern in the jumbo reference 14395 was the example owned by Ko (@Ko1892 ).

In my opinion, the dial was original, very nice and cleaned tapestry dial, please see the close-up pictures below.
Case was some polished in the past.
The “flat-feet thick decagonal crown” was original and should be the correct crown type for the 14395 and 14396. Some light reflection around the edge of it.
The date magnifying crystal was original too.

More natural light photography:

More close-up pictures:::psy::

Again, for the uncommon watch I prefer to see the back side of the dial.
Please note that the dial’s legs are still intact, no sign of removed/reattached of the hour-markers.

My wrist shot:

Please note that I already had one of this dial patterns in the reference 14395, however two of them in the reference 14395.

I share just the duo of them here:

My wrist shot again:😀

Thank you for your comments and suggestions.

If I did not include your watch in my research, please do not hesitate to share yours.
Best,
Teerapat

Thanks @RoadRunner73 .

Please allow me to post the movement number of the “6 examples of reference 14395 that my research found.
- 17,093,584
- 17,093,xxx (most likely 17,093,883)
- 17,093,841
- 17,xxx,xxx
- Unknown movement number (for 2 examples)
- 17,091,7xx (my watch)

So, I found a total of “seven examples” in the reference 14395 with an original dial.

According to the extract (by @Banner Roar), my watch might be produced in February 1960 (or Early 1960).
The movement number of mine was lower around 2000.👍

smashing ! 👍
To my eyes, both the "tapestry" and the "Waffle" dials are the smartest of all "special dials", not mentioning the Pie Pan, which is cult to me.

For the “special dial”, please don’t overlook the curtain or ribbon dial.😲

Some of this pattern in my collection.

My today wrist shot.

Please note the difference in size between the jumbo (ref.14395 and 14396) and normal watches.

All of them with the small ribbon (or tapestry) dial pattern.

Thanks for sharing @Barclay191.😉

From the picture provided, in my opinion, the fonts look good but I have a question on the “minute tracks”.
There are some inconsistencies, compared to an example I’ve seen.

Maybe I need to call, @Shabbaz which I believe he owned the same dial pattern with @Barclay191.
Also other people, please feel free to share your ideas.😀

Thank you @sliceoftime_

I update the lists of all “8 examples” in the ref.14395.
It might be used as a referencing datasheet.😉

I noticed that all of the known movement number from 5 examples, it will be 17,09x,xxx.

Thanks a lot Mathieu for sending me the image measurement. I mentioned about this watch earlier in my original thread.

Also, I discussed with Hoi via PM. He mentioned that the case of his 14397 was not the jumbo size.

It can confirm my assumption that “reference 14747 and 14397 was not the jumbo reference”.😀
