    Hey all,

I was just wondering about crosshair dials on Seamasters, I've seen a lot around with a 'broken' crosshair - a break before the word Seamaster and continuing afterwards.
Are these always redials or did Omega make some models like that?

    Picture for reference:

(I just found the picture on google to display what I meant).

    Thanks!

Generally on 50's and early/mid 60's Seamasters, a broken crosshair is a sign of a redial.

However, on late 60's/early 70's Cosmics, its fine.

Okay so I saw this watch just now, would you say it is a redial as it is from the early 60’s or do you think this would be an exception to the rule?

    Reference 14701

It’s a shame that the OVDB isn’t more complete with dial options :(

Thanks! I’m just putting together a list of potential references that I would be interested in.
I love the crosshair dials and there isn’t much on those ‘high level’ threads about them other than when the lines don’t match up.

Did you have a view on the crosshairs of the watch I posted?

    Hi @SG90

I also worried about the broken crosshair on this but looking at the 14700 on the omega database that has a broken crosshair too.

BTW that's my watch - was pretty weird to send you a photo and 5 minutes later see my wrist pop up on OF but that's totally cool - fully understand the worry!

Anyway, I worried too when I was buying it, did some research and was then happy - when it arrived I looked under a loupe and I'm fully confident that's original (otherwise I would of said so in the ad)

Haha Olly! Good to see you are an OF member!
(as we are now talking over PM, I thought it would look weird if I didn’t reply to you here!)

Just as a side note for anyone else reading this I wanted to mention that the reason the above dial photos are so blurry is because clearer photos of the lugs were requested so I was focusing on the lugs not the dial... I'm not great at watch photography but I'm not that rubbish :)

Very informative thread, I had never payed attention to the brake before until now. I guess because I have never considered buying one.

Those cosmic are kind of affordable right now, and someone recommended I buy one instead of and all beat up TV dial.

So good to know, thanks OF!

Crosshair watches still confuse me. Some I like, some I don’t. Sometimes the crosshairs look confident and attractive, sometimes I find the design to be confusing and amateurish. This one looks nice, but I can’t confirm it is legit (suspect it is)
