...or do I just not understand the market? Thoughts? http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=7090769&rid=0#msg_7090769
It is expensive but not crazy I guess (well frankly I am not familiar with vintage Seamaster diver pricing.....) ......Rolex sports vintage pricing on the other hand.........
thats what the nice ones have been getting lately. the watch itself could easily sell for 7-8k or even more if the bezel is actually original. I think its a Aldo piece though. The second bezel could sell for a serious amount if two bidders were involved.
I'm not sure about the value of the case front but lets say $500, then the damaged original bezel must be worth in the region of $750 - $1000. So there is also a 7912/transitional 7077, I couldnt tell from the pictures but call it $500 as it has later ends. That's $1850 ish on the extras putting the head at about $8000. Doesn't sound too unreasonable to me. The last decent 14755 on Ebay went for I think around €5000.
It has single stretch links so can only possibly be the 7077 transitional version with the same clasp but single instead of double links. I agree were it to be a 7077 with double links the value would be higher
Also these early 300's had been trading for years around the $5k mark where all around them their compatriots from exactly the same period, the Railmasters and early 60's Speedmasters have been going through the roof. Simply a game of catch up and the days of finding a 2913 on a forum or Ebay listing for $5K I think are long gone.
Why not, as good as the same watch. So any 2913 rise will filter through as a ratio rise to the 14755
The key with these early straight lug SM300s is the bezel - the 2913s with nice original factory bezels (and usually these examples also have nice dials, hands and cases) are the "investment" pieces. The later models - 14755 and 165.014 with original bezels are similarly valuable.
Hi These 2913's & 14755's are long overdue a catchup in value....reissued or not ! I think you will be struggling to find a 'nice' example 2913 for £5k GBP let alone $5k USD....if we start talking about a really good example Watch which ticks all the right boxes then I think we could be up around the £7.5k GBP level. All IMHO - Best - Neil
Last one I saw traded much, much cheaper: http://www.ebay.com/itm/252009171658?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2648&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I should, perhaps, add that it never arrived. Lo and behold, seller tripped and fell, watch broken, well you all know the story...
Looks like one of those supposed 'transitional' 165.014's with the 14755 hand set. What do you think?
