Hi all

I saw this black Omega Constellation Calendar 2943 with crosshair and Meister on fb, first time I've seen this variation so anything suspicious about this one?

Since the source it comes from is a bit shady 馃槣馃槣

Nice find, but I can't find what's wrong. "OMEGA" and the star are almost in place, the crosshair is going straight through the "S" of Meister and "CALENDAR" is spelled correctly.

Ok, maybe the crown is wrong. 馃榿

馃榾 i found there looks like some glue around the star maybe it was glued back? and it is the only black dial constellation calendar with crosshair and meister example to must be examined carefully 馃檮馃檮

I have always assumed that the named retailer watches (Meister, Turler) were special orders in terms of selected styles, dials and of course the added name on the dials.

I think the name would have been most likely done with the rest of the dial by Omega's nominated dial supplier as part of the special order. I have difficulty imagining a retailer arranging the name to be added by a dial specialist after taking delivery from Omega - too much trouble.

If that is what happened, is it not reasonable to expect to see minor variations on special orders? It would be interesting to compare dials from those retailers with the same model straight off the production line.

Of course my assumption may be wrong, and the retailer's names were added after they left the factory.

I have a dial on a Seamaster where some printing was added after the fact. It's clear to me that the above dial was printed all at once. I think your theory has merit.

I have a soft spot for Meister and Turler named vintage watches. It may be that I have not seen enough to back up this claim statistically, but it always seemed got me that the two firms selected only those watches whose appearance matched the firms' views of what their particular clients wanted.

One of my favourites is this 36mm gold capped case cal 561 of 1963.

When I was looking to get my first Omega I decided I wanted one with a T眉rler signature, just because I am a Glycine Airman fan and the rare "The Chief" variant of that brand was apparently exclusive to T眉rler. T眉rler and Meister might have had shops in Japan at some point, because watches with those signatures seem more plentiful on Japanese sales forums than elsewhere. I wasn't too partial to the Meister signature because I didn't think it fit well with the rest of the text on Omega dials, but the watch in the OP looks good with the black dial. That's the extent of knowing what I'm talking about, though鈥擨 can't assess how authentic the OP watch is.

Crosshair dial 2943 watches are very uncommon. Might have seen a couple over the past 10 years. So when I see a crosshair of this model and black to boot I would take a super close look. And with this one I have doubts.

Yes I believe so with that on hand and a loupe maybe we can examine it throughly but it has all the features that make people doubtful, especially the Meister seems to be put on the same style with all the texts, not added later
