Good morning members and happy Saturday, here I found this one in old box , so much to rediscover yet,馃槉, constellation 168.018 in looks like great shape ? needs new cristal gasket and cleaning , completely forgotten for years and years haha, so importance here is , that I tried to open the back, ah oh buy this think was stuck , wouldn鈥檛 budge 馃檭 so slowly I applied pressure to the tool and sadly tool slipped and I scratched the caseback , not terribly , but it was pristine before, I used this simple tool , but now it鈥檚 time to invest in something better, the pint here is I think that for a hobby of this magnitude , there is no substitute for cheap amateur equipment , well lesson learned, not a terrible damage , but still it bothers me , the fact that I caused injury to perfect back, your thoughts please , what tools you guys using if I may ask , thank you for your attention and valuable advise, good happy Sunday to all , kazd

Nice Watch. Congrats for the improved techniques at taking pictures ;-)
No advice for opening the case back though. I Will let more experienced and well equiped folks to intervene.

Very nice and good shape
I have 168.016 same watch with day/date was my fathers daily.
The only watch I have sent to Bienne so looks new.
These wear a bit chunkier that other Constellations I wear it often.
You should find a watchmaker you like help you with various tasks don鈥檛 try further with other tools you risk more scratching.

Hello and thank you , yes you are absolutely right, I鈥檓 stopping all attempts that involves especially case openings, with proper tool it is probably safer and easier , but then , the tool is as good as the person using it, thank you, your watch is very nice , especially with the added function , the day, enjoy , love this forum , to see others having same passion for these vintage treasures , good day , kazd

Many Constellations from that era, possibly including the 168.018, have snap-on casebacks, not screw-down ones.

Some 50s Constellations have snap back cases.
I can鈥檛 think of any 60s Constellations that have a snap back, including the 168.016/018.
The late 60s 168.015/025 have monocoque, front loading cases.
Did you have any particular references in mind?
