I thought I'd just tuck this in one of the Constellation show and tell threads but was encouraged to give it a bit more attention. Found this posted locally: I thought: Looks like a Constellation 2852 eggshell dial similar to the one Norm (@X350 XJR) listed a couple of months ago and got yelled at for selling for ~$800. This one was listed at a similar price point and I figured I'd shoot the guy an offer that I'd be comfortable with no matter what condition the dial/case was in (I was pretty confident the dial was original even with the blurry picture). Drove out quite a distance to meet seller but bought it on the spot in a quick f2f. He said his grandfather bought it while on a business trip but it spent most of it's life where they lived in India. And finally a wristshot. So... I was happy with the purchase. It's a textured dial in fantastic condition. All the scratches from the picture were just on the crystal and polywatch got them right out. Hardware and medallion look like Rose Gold but you be the judge. It certainly is a very warm shade but it's a hard color to catch as the light really plays with it. Lume is a nice warm orange color. Case also looks unpolished. Dare I say it spent most of its life... in a drawer The kicker is that it is the first watch I have bought that my wife finally likes. It is the only one she actually wants me to keep. She loves rose gold (her engagement and wedding rings are both rose gold) and if it were rose gold cap she told me she'd have confiscated it for herself. To get all mushy gushy: I started on the Forums looking to buy a terribly redialed Constellation. A few months later, I bought a genuine Constellation (my first, actually) just based on the knowledge I've gained from here. It is great that I really do now feel confident buying on my own. So thanks to all the great people on this forum who share so much knowledge. You guys make it really fun! Thanks for reading! Ben
You can post too in Spacefruit's "What Omeg did you buy under 500$" Great find, congrats! As good as it gets.
Thanks! Not quite that little but very close! PS serial is less than 150 away from your 2852 for sale. Pretty cool!
Congrats, Ben! I have to admit being more than a little envious of your story - it strikes all the right chords with me; from hunting down a bargain, to sitting there with such a beautiful specimen. That watch is a keeper.
Congratulations Ben! Very nice ss Constellation!! Dial like new. With no offence, if the first owner's story is true, this is probably one of the best Connies survived from India.
Just for kicks, this was the first thread I started here (back in the end of February) inquiring about this redial and counterfeit everything else Connie: At the time I got this gem from Troels. So it's nice to see he's a little envious now.
