WTB a perfect Connie 167.005 or 168.005. Steel case needs to be unpolished and lugs razorsharp. Dial needs to be fresh (not yellowed) and in perfect condition without any scratches, discolouration, or other. Totally mint. Preferably onyx inlays. Preferably non-lumed variants. No excessive corrosion on the hands or indices. Strap does not matter. Service history does not matter yet movement needs to be in top shape and fully original. The less messed with, the better. Can be (even preferably) a fresh barn find with scratched original crystal. Needs to be a collector’s watch that ticks all the boxes.

That’s a tall order. Most watches that old either have some battle scars or have had some work done. Here’s my 167.005. Fully original, and not mint, but I’m very fond of it. Monitor the private watch sales forum on OF and wait. That’s your best option.

That's a task... It took me years to find a 168.005 in about nearly the perfect condition you expect and when I found it, I maybe overpayed.

Good luck with your WTB! 😀

They are out there but need extreme patience and a big premium 😉😉

I know it's kind of a tall order but these dials are normally very well preserved because of the screw caseback. The model is also not rare and quite a few of them are still lying around. Have found my fair share of beautiful barn finds over the years but have been foolish to let them go. Especially a very very nice barn find crosshairs 167.005, the one and only watch I ever sold with a lot of seller's remorse these days. Sharp as a knife, dial fresh as can be, and the rather rare no date with crosshairs layout.....

That seller has some really nice watches, I've been eyeballing them and made some offers in the past. I'm certainly willing to pay a fair price. But 3.2k for a pie-pan Connie? That is REALLY steep. Nice examples usually go anywhere between 1.5 and 2.2k.

I appear not to be the only one thinking about it that way, his watches have been on ebay for aaaaages now.

Vision Vintage has a very nice one in the catalogue now, but price is 2.5k pounds. That is beyond what I would want to spend, because I know with some patience they do pass for 1.3 to 1.8k usd/EUR.

Not the reference you’re looking for, but this one is my pride and joy. Just about mint, unpolished, and completely original except for the strap. Sat in a drawer for decades. Prior owner almost never wore it and then passed away.

Agreed, very steep premium, but I thought that I would pass it along.

Thanks anyway 😀

One of the big attractions of the dogleg Connie is that it delivers a tremendous amount of watch for the money, but if these things start costing what the average Rolex 1601/1603 costs, then the fun is over for me.

Just looking for an honest, perfect collector's example, and willing to pay a fair price. If you have the nicest one I have ever seen (see my old crosshairs 167.005 above for reference), then 2.5k euro should not be an issue. But I expect 0.001% of offers made to me to be in that class 😉
For normal good collector's examples I would expect pricing in the 1 to 1.8 (2)k range.

Saw that one on your IG. PERFECT example of what I'm looking for. Exactly this. But I got the feeling you're not selling 😁

Small hour marker next to date window (168.005).
