Consignment Store find

Ran across this on my commute... watch is being consigned at a local shop by previous owner who claimed he bought on eBay 25 years ago (questionable to begin with). I only held it for a couple minutes because the place was closing. They wanted to much to buy on a whim.

Didn’t feel like sapphire. OMEGA font doesn’t look right, “Swiss” covered by 6 mark, and doesn’t say “Swiss Made”. Band not original, no papers, and those minute marks...Furthermore I can’t find a single watch with the same characteristics.

Seemed to run fine. What say you? Thanks.

That italicized font is typical of the 1930s IIRC, but I don't know if the watch is that old. Obviously it would be helpful to see the inside.

D&A = Divincenzo and Arient, New York.
.
American market watch, dial looks refinished, crystal would be acrylic not sapphire.

Many American market watches were marked SWISS and not SWISS MADE so that alone would not be a disqualifier, but it still looks off.

The consigner called the guy for me... she didn’t even recognize the Omega brand.

The guy said a jeweler offered him $300 and he thought he could get a couple hundred more stating “you know, it’s real gold!”

Priced at $560, cash $448.

the only nice watches Ive held are newer... I know zero about anything vintage. Obviously would be nice if I can open it up.

I agree that the logo style on the dial of this watch seems to be earlier than the case style. Smells funny.

Looks like typical Connecticut pricing in shops. The jeweler had the right idea...pay $300 then cut it up for parts and scrap the case.
