[Considering] Vintage Omega Constellation

Hi everyone! I saw two Connies (I think they are 168.005) that were on sale and I'm considering acquiring one of them but wanted your opinion on the watches. I've been educating myself thanks to Desmond blog (Unbelievable information!) but still have some doubts.

The first one is being offered for U$1200 and the second U$800. I still don't have photos of the movements but I'm going to check it in a week or so and would expect to be a Caliber 561 or 564 if I'm correct.

I understand that both crowns are not correct, they should have the ten sided ones.

Although I don't know personally the dealer, I think it's reputable.

The second one

As I understand, not all Constellations had the 'officially certified' in the dial, is that correct?

Thanks in advance for any information you can provide!!

Both are redials (as far as these pics tell), lume is missing from the hands in the first one, and both crowns are not original. Wouldn’t do it.

What makes you think the first is a redial? The second I agree is suspect.

The dealer seems reputable, but his prices are a little high. I've actually asked about the first watch in the past and posted a photo of the movement. See this link: https://omegaforums.net/threads/help-with-an-omega-connie-pie-pan-crosshair.126399/

The consensus was that it wasn't worth the asking price.
Oh nice, I thought it was weird that no one has already bought it.

Do you have a larger photo or the movement?

Both are redials (as far as these pics tell), lume is missing from the hands in the first one, and both crowns are not original. Wouldn’t do it.

Why do you think it's a redial? The lack of patina / the good condition?
About the crown, as I got to see a bunch of watches have different crowns after being serviced.

I live in Argentina so we don't have many options regarding these vintage watches. If the price got lower, do you still think I should pass?

Thanks!

The thickness of the font and the crosshair look wired to me. Also the second hand looks too short as well. Far from being an expert but i also agree with @VintageMasters

Also the second hand looks too short as well.

That might well be due to the angle of the picture.

I don’t think the 2nd watch is a redial, but it is also not a dog-leg lug 168.005. The dial is in such poor condition, it hardly matters.

The first one is in barely acceptable condition, but with the right watchmaker, is salvageable if there are no issues with the movement.

Neither of these would be at the top of my list.

1st one: Thickness of the font and inconsistent height of both the “L’s” in officially, plus the inconsistency in the “E’s” are suspicious to say the least. Might also be due to the photo angle/quality.

2nd one: the “A’s”, “O’s”, “E’s” seem off, text is not aligned and the n’s in constellation are of different sizes.

I might be wrong but I would still pass on both due to overall lack of attractiveness compared to the prices.
