Considering an Omega Constellation Pie Pan

Hello,

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on an Omega Constellation, but I have a concern about the authenticity of its dial. The seller said it's all original, however I can see in the pictures that the "Constellation" text is a bit sloped to the right. Is this a common thing in these Omega watches? Can you guys help me with some input on this?

Thanks a lot!

Text is surely not straight on this picture... Any other?

In addition, the Constellation font seems too thick to my eyes.

Other here would be able to help you better than me, though.

.

Thought exactly the same thing. Not sure whether it's due to the resolution of the picture.

Intrigued to see what the experts have to say.

The Constellation text is definitely wonky, and also a bit more to the left than I typically see. Dials are rarely perfect, but this one does seem to be a bit outside the norm.

Never seen an original dial with weird text like this before. Seems like it could be a partial redial/touch-up. In any case, the watch is horrendously overpriced. For that asking, I would expect the movement to have no issues whatsoever, and for the indexes to have onyx inserts. The second hand also seems to be shorter than it should be.

Can anyone explain the finish of the caseback as I was expecting it to be polished as most casebacks. But this looks similar to a sandblasted finish.

Looks thick and splotchy here.

This is a very late ‘original’ dogleg. (33,xxxm serial )
There’s a thread somewhere showing that these watches weren’t movt swaps but were still supplied by Omega into the early seventies.

just to reinforce @X350 XJR ’s comment, the lower text has either been printed very badly or repainted poorly.

as noted above, this is a very late dogleg Connie, which aren’t that common.
Omega stopped having perlaging in later 60s references (.010s etc.) so chances are they stopped requesting it in these watches too - most likely as a cost saving exercise.

Thank you all very much for the contributions!

I'm new to this world of vintage Omega and grateful to have access to your knowledge on the matter.

I've decided to hold off for now until I find a better example. If anyone knows of a dealer or private individual selling a watch like this anywhere in Switzerland, please drop me a message.

Thanks again 😀
