The FM is on my wish list for a ling time. I bought a Mark III not to long ago and to be honest I kinda dig that huge case it has and I know the FM is even slimmer. There are many butchered/franken examples though it is hard to pick the right one for the right money. Good luck with the hunt though...

Thanks again for the advice and encouragement. Patience is key, I know. This a new(ish) challenge for me because as a Hamilton guy, I can usually be more impulsive because of both cost and knowledge. Not so with the FM! But, for me, the hunt is the best part anyway.

if you have patience that is all you need. there are numerous sources when it comes to vintage omega (wus-omega forum being one in particular, I mean the old threads) all you need to do is read read and read.and ask questions preferably here 馃榾 having said that I wouldn't mind a hamilton chrono-matic or a panda in the watch box

You and me both @Blaise. Chronomatic D has been on the list for a bit. Most of my collection are odd balls like the Pacermatic (pictured), Accumatic A504, Odyssee 2001, and my current daily wearer, the Hamilton Aqua Date 600. But the Chrono has great style.

Flightmasters used to be large watches but after the increase in girth of newer watches they seem almost ordinary in dimension.
I have two now, first and second versions. I think the dials age in numerous ways and replaced pushers don't bother me much. I focus on the case not being overly polished and the service history or lack. These are not inexpensive to service so factor in at least a service check up for seals and oils to be safe. Last full service I had on mine two years ago from my current watchmaker was about $600. U.S. Good luck with the hunt.

Whats not to like 馃榿 ? I have 17,5cm around my arms and this sits great on the wrist. It's flat underneath which make things easier 馃榾
