Thanks; after a little more research and a few emails back and forth with the seller I decided to refrain from any offer on these.
So in a recent thread here: https://omegaforums.net/threads/help-with-getting-a-watch-repaired.106509/ A comment was made about Omega not having the original crowns for the Admiralty watches, and that is true. However as I noted in the thread they do have a replacement - part 069ST42242. I had to make one last order this year, so I tacked on one of these crowns so I could share the dimensions with everyone and hopefully someone with an "original" vintage crown can provide dimensions so we can see the differences. Here's the crown - you can see it was made the 11th week of 2019 so they are still in production: Crown from logo side: Diameter: Length: Cheers, Al
Lets see it on the watch, Al. I believe the original has a camber this doesn't. EDIT maybe not a "camber" maybe a "dome" at the logo and stem. Looking for a good picture...
What watch? All I have is a crown... If you have an "original" vintage crown, please post the dimensions.
I came up with a OD of 6.81mm I was wrong about the camber, that's an illusion created by the crown guard. What I most often see is this; a crown that is just a bit too small - it doesn't fill the crown guard entirely: (picture captured off Pinterest via Google search) Another, even worse from Hondikee (that they apparently sold to some unsuspecting mark for way too much money) And mine for comparison
I don't think either of those are the correct replacement. I've never said that the crown Omega sells is exactly the same - we all know vintage parts often differ from the modern replacements. But Omega does have a crown for this watch, and I think it would fit pretty well. I think Norman's 6.71 measurement is spot on - I measured mine again making sure I was point to point and it measured 6.71 mm, so I think my previous measurement was not on the peaks of the serrations. Photo of the crown profile...
Serrations look coarser on the new crown, but dimensionally they are close enough to not matter imho.
I looked into substitute crowns when I got my Admiralty. From memory, there were a couple of options with a very close diameter, but they were a little thicker. They would have looked pretty good though. Then a correct crown popped up on eBay so I didn't need to go down the substitute route. I'm not sure if it's the 601 movement or the large diameter crown, but this watch is a joy to wind.
Wondering thoughts on this watch. I’m just learning.... Second hand replaced or just lighting? Crown wrong? Some crud under glass at left side I can’t make out? Dial looks ok maybe.
Second hand is incorrect, wrong shape and color. Crown might be OK, may just be a stem which is too long.
I love this version of the Admiralty. Im supposing whoever designed it wanted a homage to the omega military WWW watches.
If you can get your hands on the rarer short-lug version...there are more bracelet options such as aftermarket oyster with a little tweaking....
With regards to the crown....Archer had been very helpful on this page, but also earlier on this thread supplying the part numbers. The modern replacement crown is different from the original in the number of notches (the original has more) and the Omega symbol is smaller. Once you've seen a handful of examples, you'll be able to quickly identify an original. With the proper length stem the edge of the crown is almost flush with the crown guards....
Did the short lug version have a different reference number than the rest of them or? If so could you share?
so to summarize the non-diver reference numbers: no date, manual wind: 135.015 no date, automatic: 165.038 date, manual wind: 136.015 date, automatic: 166.038
Thanks Al! Interesting how the date crystals have a different part number....I guess it includes a mag lens??
