I liked that the watch was never polished and the movement seems in a good condition I am a bit worried with the dial since I cant find it on the omega website but I found on the web the series 2901-1 with the same dial but different color then I also found 2901-1 with totally different dial.also not sure with the hands if they have had lumination and match but I still think the real patina points to an original not repainted dialoverall I think 1000 usd is a fair price and it's a collector item

I guess that would depend on how you define "collector watch."

Are you looking for something to wear and enjoy or something to lock away in a safe to fund your retirement?

I think the dial and hands might be ok. There are small lume plots at the outer ends of the applied markers and they seem to be pretty consistent. Sometimes there are long hands even with the inner minute track. There was a thread about this at some point, but I probably can't find it.

Imo a collector watch is in the original condition and nothing has been changed and it still looks good to dress. Yes I will wear it for special occasions and I hope the watch will at least retain the money I paid for . That would be great

Here is another Ref. 2901 with a very similar dial and hand configuration.

There are exceptions to almost every rule with vintage Omega.

Looks like seller was very crafty. By keeping hour hand at 6, they hid that defect. I would be concerned about the rest of the watch.

i am also worried , once i get the watch i will make pictures from the second handle with my microscop and post them i guess if the small point at the back of the handle is broken off i can live with that but if the handle is new and hasnt the same patina as the hour handle i send it back. what you think?

1. Do research (ie google.com, use ‘site:xxx.com bla bla’
1.1 Figure out if the watch looks kosher based on other watches you see. Look at several.
1.2 Figure out a rough sales price when doing said research, you are bound to stumble across sold listings

2. Depending on if the watch is more or less kosher based on 1, and what you paid, decide how you would like to proceed.

Welcome to vintage watch collecting. We are not necessarily going to do 1 & 2 for you (but we are a nice bunch). Alternatively learn how to fish before you pull them out the ocean.

Edit : ps : once you start forming an opinion based on 1, feel free to come back and share your concerns (what you see, why etc)...I’m certain a lot more folk will then gladly jump in to put you on the correct path.

i researched many hours i found watches with the same dial too these watches look legit to me and mine looks because of the patina legit to me too my only concern is the sub second dial i couldnt find any omega watch from 1950 to 1960 with that hand . watches before had that hand and later too , so maybe the handle got broken and is still original or it got replaced around 1960 and is still ok for me the only concern i have if it got replaced with a new non omega handle lately.

Hard to imagine the back end breaking off the hand, without the hand being bent.
