    Hi there,

I figured that RADO seems not really popular under collectors but I still like their funky dials :).

So what do you think how collectable are Vintage RADO's and what models would models would you recommend?
    I was thinking about:

    -Captain Cook
    -DiaStar
    -Manhattan
    -Golden Horse
    -Musketeer

Any other pieces that could be interesting?
Thanks for your help and support!

A vintage Diastar with the faceted crystal kind of defines Rado for me. Here's a crappy pic of one listed on eBay:

I'm sure there are Rado fans/collectors out there (not necessarily around here). I own a couple - this one was a gift from my father (who owned a jewelry store for many years and sold many Rados during the late 70s and 80s) ...

    Thanks for the replies, guys!

My first ever Swiss Automatic I bought is actually a Rado DiaStar (see pic).
Very unique design and thanks to the scratch free design it still looks almost new - besides the back case that has a few scratches.

I was thinking about to add a Manhattan because it has this quirky clunky look.

@alam - would like to see some more Rados hehe

Interesting...the Rado Captain Cook was my first vintage purchase. Probably the worst example ever but I loved that watch. Had it serviced at a pretty cost and sold it for a song. Wish I still had it. All in all, very interesting pieces with great movements and well worth collecting IMO. They are also within reach price wise, as far as vintage watches are concerned.

But... my wife still has one!

Thanks for opening this thread WATCHROCK. I've long been curious about Rado, a brand that certainly went its own way with styling.

I've never seen a Rado in person, but only perused the examples found on Ebay. Have considered acquiring one, but prices are all over the place and condition seems uneven on examples offered.

It'd be nice to see more Rados here and read some Forum discussion.

I had this uncommon one for several years, and sold it to another member. Very nice watch.

Hehe I am happy to meet here more people that like Rado watches. I was looking over the internet and really seemed that Rado Vintage get not enough love. Awesome seeing all these beautiful Rado Vintage watches here in this post. There is something about their dial design - it is very eye catching! Thanks guys!

You should be able to find nice starter pieces from a 100USD up to 500USD+.

Also maybe compared to Omega or Rolex there might be less Frankenwatches or counterfeits because the popularity is lower(?).

The World Travel series are nice and some of them resemble the Polerouter

Googled it and it is a wonderful model indeed!
Good to be put on a future "owning" plan list.

My first choice would be the Diastar. It is so funcky ugly (in a good way) and quintessential Rado. My second choice is the Manhattan. Here is my Diastar. It is not vintage. I bought it new couple years back but since the design really never changed, I am hoping I am forgiven for posting it anyway ;). I love the retro brown dial on my Diastar. I will post my Manhattan later.

I was in clothes shop last year and noticed the sales assistant watch on a jubilee style bracelet.

When I asked about it he was happy to show me and tell me that he picked it up on eBay for next to nothing.

It was a gold and silver Rado in a similar style of a datejust, I have no idea what model it was but it was a lovely looking watch.

Going back a few years I really liked their ceramic chronos
