We also use a midsize French press/Bodum press, usually with three heaped measures because we prefer it strong. I like it black and Mrs S with a dash of cold milk.

Yes can confirm lol.

I don't/won't drink that shit though.

Yeah, but yours dosen't have the fake wood grain aplique like the vintage ones have. Real collectors' items, those.

Did you miss what seems to be a fake leather texture...or something, instead? hah.

Finally back from service. The two weeks were unbearable 😀

I think I’d need to go on a course to work that - but I bet the coffee’s good …

Original patina or did they change the dial?

The sellers of these machines often offer an introduction incl. in the purchase price. I didn’t get this deal so my wife and I did an extra barista course. Absolutely worth it!

Parts changed and case polished, which is OK here 😀

check out how big a Mahlkonig Kenya is next to a Baratza Forte BG. Back before the Forte came out I was using a Ditting 903 at home. Massive (a bit smaller than a Kenya), but 90mm flat burrs are a beautiful thing.
. BTW, Kona is the Hublot of the coffee world

Some Kona coffee is on the way from my brother 😀
Thats a very fun and enlightening tour. I wish Mrs S and I liked Kona Coffee. I’ve purchased every so often since our tour but it just doesn't sing to us.

Yep, been there, done that, and have the tee shirt...

Not a huge fan of the coffee we had there, but the tour was a lot of fun. I actually had a difficult time finding a coffee there that I liked - finally found some in a market in Hilo that was good.

My basic coffee station at work:

Coffee at work tasted like mud, so I had to do something about it. I started with a Nespresso machine last year and added a V60 today. I will bring fresh ground coffee with me every day.

Old school, I like it, I'm partial to that myself on occasion. I always use filtered water, even though here on the Emerald Isle it's pretty good quality, it's good for the machine as well. I get up for work at 0545hrs, and I thought that was early😲
I'm Italian and I like coffee a lot...
also in Italy we have several way to make the coffe but the most populat are, with the espresso machine at the bar and at home with the moka (Bialetti or Lagostina) or in the city of Napoli (Naples) with the "napoletana" moka.
My only suggestion, looking at the picture above, in case you make a coffe with an Italian moka (even the caffettiera napoletana) do not press the coffee into the moka with the pusher tool but instead make a "mountain" of coffee a bit taller than the container and than when you'll close screwing the top of the moka it will be abit compressed. Tha's the way they teached me from Napoli.

If you like a slittle stronger one, I suggest you Lavazza qualità ORO (I'm from Torino)
or Vergnano intenso (still from Torino)

Thanks, yes I learned that the hard way and no longer press the coffee in, just let it sit naturally, I use the Moka pot on a gas stove on my boat. 👍
