My 2p's worth would be to take it to a watch repairer, because it gives you an independent 3rd party's view of the watch which is important if all is not well with the watch in case of a dispute.

You will have a leg to stand on if there is something not right because you have taken it to a third party.

If it has been recently serviced then the cost shouldn’t be great.

I just want to make sure I’m preserving water resistance.

Simple answer…..you are not.

The minute you open and close a watch without a pressure test is a quick way to End the water resistance guarantee.

Plenty can go wrong, dust, crimped seal or flattened seal.

((If you take the back off and check and it’s all good, I wouldn’t get it wet without a pressure test.))

OK, everybody is a moron at some point in life. What's the plan going forward? What's the goal?

1b. I was afraid because I've never spent this much on a watch before.
2. I lied when I said he gave me any sort of inspection window. He didn't - I just wanted to get my question answered without any of the normal huff and puff from online forums when asking about authentication.
What a weird thread… Didn’t you buy a 2019 Speedmaster a month and a half ago?

We’ve made amends and have an arrangement we are both happy with. I’m not sure this thread is productive anymore. Seems like things have really gone off track.

I’d be happy to share the details of my buying/selling history privately but I’m not sure it’s productive in this setting anymore. I’ve nearly ruined a relationship posting in the first place, so I should probably just stop while I’m ahead. I can PM you with more information if you’d like. I would just ask that the folks here tread kindly and give a bit of grace. Not everything is what it seems on the surface, and there are a lot of moving pieces in life (especially when you have 4 kids at home!). At the end of the day my reputation over the last 10 years can speak for itself. I try to give everybody the benefit of the doubt. I made a mistake here, and I am ready to move on.
I'm also ready to move on, I've seen all I need to see.

Another in your words “satisfied customer”!
