So have they billed separately for the new components? Something just doesn't check out here. You should have received an itemised invoice back with the watch listing what was changed and starting your 2 year warranty. I understand you were angry and refused to take collection, but you need to see what is on the paperwork. I still think there is a good chance you are blaming the wrong people here, though mistakes do happen of course.

Are you even sure it was your watch that came back? If you had the paperwork, you could check the serial number,
Ill ask them...

..I think Omega should get all the parts back to you.. And as a goodwill gesture, give you a limited edition platinum 321 Speedmaster..

Not sure, I have sent it via the shop in Amsterdam (which has been absolutely lovely). It went either to Switzerland or Belgium.....
We are innocent... I'll say Switzerland!

Feel for you, mate! Horrible just horrible.

To be fair, Omega is pretty clear about what a "full service" is. I checked from what I received last time I asked for one: it is written in the papers you get with the quote, in full details...
Now, the real problem on their side is they should have give you back all the parts they changed. The missing bezel and caseback is a huge mistake

Not sure why it was different with your fligthmaster. Either it was a partial service, or your OB took care to add in the description to not change case parts without asking first.

Red service pouches are everywhere, they aren't evidence of a service.

When you hand your watch over for service, you should receive an "Acknowledgement" document that indicates that ownership has been accepted by Omega.

When you get your watch back you should get your watch, all replaced parts, all documentation, and of course, a red sevice pouch.

I don't wish to be pedantic, but if you don't have two documents like this, I suspect it didn't to to an Omega service centre.

FYI, I added the receipt... Its def OMEGA...

Yep. Says nothing at all about changing the bezel or caseback. Those parts would add a further ~500 Euros and are most certainly not included in a standard service. This is likely why they haven't given the old ones back, they weren't changed. My money is on the whole watch being swapped at some point and I still think the shop is the most likely culprit for the mix up: the watch they tried to give you back likely isn't yours. Do you have a record of the serial number? Does it match that on the paperwork or on the 'new' watch?

I agree - whether it is theft or mix up I think it is a different watch.

I was contemplating sending my 12 year old 2254.50 to Omega for some TLC and decided to go with the independent Omega-authorized shop closer to home. Stories like this make me glad that I had a change of heart.

I sincerely hope that you are able to get this sorted out to your satisfaction.

A long time ago, I had a similar dispute with omega in Brussels over a bad repair job. They are real zeros. The only way to get things moving is to write directly to the customers service in Switzerland. I am afraid you will never see that case back again.
Good luck.

I checked the serial-number it's the same case. Guess that's about all that is left of it. Even if they would found the Caseback and Bezel back. Its a destroyed collectible. Real shame...

I don't doubt that the watch you received matches the receipt but did you record the serial number before you sent the watch out?

I compared the number on the case in the shop (took picture) with the number on the case in my photo archive. Its the same number. I dont think they would just send me a different watch with the same number...

Just making sure. What a nightmare. The more of these stories I read, the more I think I did good sending my 2254.50 directly to Nesbitt's in Seattle. My local jeweler handled sending my modern Omegas to factory service but they had to go to their designated service center, and they always had to go back at least once.

Thank you for all comments. It's an interesting situation. At this moment OMEGA still has time to fix the problem and return the watch with the correct bezel and backside. I can not believe that they will not move heaven and earth to make this good again. I really hope it will end well.
I will keep you all posted.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I am not surprised that they swapped the bezel and back, but surprised that they didn't return them to you. I thought that was their policy now.

If they would have returned them separately I would have gone straight to a watchmaker to get them placed back... Imagine you own Elvis Presleys car and during a large service, they replace the seats and the steering wheel ;-)

On the contrary, I am very surprised they even did just that, as a matter of fact!
Why on earth would they do a thing like that I'd like to know!?

I'm sorry too that this happened and hope they fix this issue with you asap!

Usually the safety net for this type of thing is that the service center needs approval for the extra costs of replacing those parts, which gives the owner a chance to decline, even if it means taking the watch back entirely without being repaired. It's strange that the OP wasn't charged for the replaced case-back and bezel. As @padders mentioned, those costs are significant.
