    Saw this today while browsing.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/George-Clo...rkparms=%26rpp_cid%3D5f74b10917f9650972c1542dPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

A Globemaster from George Clooney's personal collection is included in a Veteran's Day Celebrity Auction to support Homes For Our Troops; a great charity! Nothing special about the watch itself (apart from being owned by a celebrity), but the box is signed. Would be a cool thing to own.

On eBay? That’s a bit odd no? Surely a well known brick and mortar auction house would garner a higher result?

Nice idea and great cause. Slightly odd venue but it is what it is. A letter of provenance and a signed photo would have been the icing on the cake.

Yeah, I do question the feedback score on this one...

Is this still up on ebay?
    When I press the link it's error/gone?

How do you know it's his watch, other than a box he might have signed and added to the set?

Two more days when I look at it...it’s likely legit. George Clooney has probably touched/owned/handled hundreds of Omega watches at some point

I would expect a very authentic document from Mr Clooney himself to go with it.

Agree, eBay seems an odd dynamic for such provenance.

    Description states:

A Letter of Authenticity for this item will be provided by Homes For Our Troops.

Would be a different ballgame if that letter was signed by Mr Clooney

For a really high end piece, I think that's true, but there are some advantages to using eBay for these routine auctions, including the fact they can start an eBay auction any time they want (allowing a steady stream of revenue), and the fact that eBay routinely waives fees for charitable organizations. They don't have to negotiate each deal on a case-by-case basis with an auction house. This non-profit currently has over 100 auctions running, most involving donations of merchandise or services (e.g. Zoom calls) from celebrities.

The organization is legit and receives good ratings from the standard places that rate non-profits (Charity Navigator, GuideStar, etc.).
