Hi all. I was browsing Facebook and someone in an Omega watch group posted a pic of George Clooney wearing a 2254.50. I did a web search and next thing I see is that his watch is up for auction! Don't know how real it is but here's a screen shot and a link if you're interested... https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/276138081837Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Hot dang! Me and Georg Clooney have the same Carisma and now the same watch. Now thats he is selling, I am top dog. Wonder why his is worth 5 times mine? Must be the hair lines.
Seems legit, the watch is part of a charity auction over Veteran's Day weekend to benefit Homes for Our Troops, an organization that builds homes for severely injured post 9/11 veterans. It has a 97% rating on Charity Navigator.
Legit charity, legit watch. Though who knows if it’s one he regularly wore or just donned once for the camera ahead of this auction. You’d have to be a pretty big Clooney fan to drop the kind of coin this is already commanding (with many hours still to go on the auction) for this reference. Awesome watch, charming actor and a good dude, but yikes. I sort of remember almost-whole-collection sales of watches from Stallone and Crowe—maybe a few others over the years. It would be pretty cool to wear a watch you know was worn by a public figure you admire. Probably only three people on this site will care, but a few years back there was a big Grateful Dead auction that included a cool radio-connected watch that Bill Graham had inscribed and gifted to Phil Lesh. I was funding-up and preparing to go big on that lot, and then they (inexplicably) yanked it from the sale. Boo.
Does anyone want to ask him when he last had it serviced and if he's got a timegrapher reading? I'd like a 2254 but not for that money, regardless of the previous owner. Thinking about celebrity watches I'd like, there's Steve McQueen's Monaco and Elvis's Bulova 521. The former is more about the man and the latter is more about the watch. Not sure I'd pay the necessary overs for either though.
Actually, I no longer want Steve McQueen's Monaco. https://www.motorsportmagazine.com/...s-le-mans-heuer-monaco-watch-to-be-auctioned/
Haha. George and I have the same watch too (albeit mine is the 38.5mm version). We're both men with great taste for sure https://sg.news.yahoo.com/george-clooney-rocked-sleek-steel-110000560.html
Looks like it sold for $12,200. Lots of money, but I'm surprised it didn't go up more during the last two days.
