Not really a car but while doing my daily browsing of BAT stumbled across a nice Jetta with a VR6 and I felt compiled to post the following here - because I had to say it, and I don't really know anyone who could possible appreciate it but...

All I have to do, is see this motor and it fills me with emotion.

🥲
I once owned a 2000 Jetta VR6. Loved the growl from that very thirsty engine. 174hp and beautifully torquey!

Oof. Low blow man. Low blow. But not this time!
You must be referring to last time….and the little puddle on my garage floor? That's nothing to worry about lol.
Still looks good though!
And no, I still have not exactly figured out the occasional no start condition. But hey, that's all part of the fun, right?.....
.....Right????

🤪
My yesterday adventure

Drive home with a mate in his rented trashcan X1 1.8
  • tyre gets slashed by a hydraulic parking bollard that didn’t retract right
  • we get stuck with a dead flat rear left at the German club
  • German club get mad at us blocking their parking lot during Octoberfest
  • tow driver turns up late, desperately needing to take a leak
  • German club tells tow driver to get lost so he has to climb into a construction site next door
  • tow hook and tool kit all missing from rental BMW
  • tow driver gets my mate to drive on 3 wheels up the flatbed, doesn’t even secure it
  • mate gets out, releases brake, almost gets killed as park brake can’t hold the angle on one tyre
  • tow driver secures one wheel, my mate gets down
  • tow driver drives through the steel chain joining the two rows of big plastic barriers
  • tow driver drives down a Main Street 50 feet dragging 8 of these barriers hanging off the chain
  • uber driver comes to get us, nearly crashes head on at 60 due to trying to beg my mate for an IT job instead of looking at the road
  • we get to a Ute that needs moving, move it, order another uber
  • while waiting for the second uber, my mate nearly gets taken out by the second uber driver

I went home straight to bed and couldn’t wait to sleep and wake up the next day.

In the pic you can see the white barriers, the chain on the ground with red flags, the skip bins it dragged and the white Corolla it hit, with my mate in the middle wondering why he bothered waking up. This is after they got dragged back

A mate of mine had a BMW 2002tii a great little car, he managed to crash it quite a few times driving like a maniac, over the years that he had it, he had every panel replaced but one rear guard (rear fender/ wing depending where you are) and the boot lid (trunk lid) Some panels were replaced more than once, the bonnet (hood) was replaced @ 3 times that I recall.
That poor car got absolutely trashed, I pity that stupid bastard the bought it from him.
In fact my mate worked for an ex used car dealer with a notorious reputation, when he told his boss he'd sold the car and how much for, his boss joked: "Here are my keys, Take my Mercedes and chase that bloke down the road to give him his money back!" 🤣🤣🤣

That Auburn Speedster, Back in the late 70's- early 80's, my Dad was approached to back an outfit doing replicas of them, they'd already built some and they were very well done but the numbers just didn't stack up.
The only real easy give away that an average punter could pick up on at a distance was the modern tyre profiles. closer inspection would reveal fiberglass body work and modern controls and switchgear etc.
I think they only built 3 here in Oz.

This is just comically bad lol. Wow.
At least I just had an easy 15 min walk home after the Rover getting hauled away...
I drove it a bunch this weekend and it didn't miss a beat!
