[Chrono24] Fee avoidance ?

Hello guys,

I'm currently selling a watch on C24 and as everybody knows they apply a 6,5% fee on sales. We can notice that those fees are not applied on shipping part of the price. Then, if we consider for example a 10k$ watch, what avoid people to set a watch price at 1k$ and 9k$ for delivery ?

You mean aside from the fact that it's completely unethical and an end run to screw C24 and essentially enlist the aid of their platform to sell a watch for as little cost to the seller as possible? .

Yeah, considering that 6,5% can be considered by some people maybe too much for a third party convention?

Then perhaps those people, knowing what the commission rate is, should choose not to use the platform and sell elsewhere?

6.5% is less than eBay charge.
I think they deliberately make it hard to know the fee but it tends to work out around 12-15% on the sale and the shipping charge.

If I was a buyer and the seller suggested that scam to me……. I wouldn’t continue with the transaction, if the seller would do the dirty to Chrono24, how could I be sure that the seller wouldn’t do the dirty to me too?
It’s hard to trust someone who openly displays their preparedness to shaft someone else!

It's a fairly safe platform with the escrow setup. If you can't afford 6.5% , why not sell Pokemon cards on Reddit ? Or dismantle the watch and sell the parts. No fee at all.

Simple. If you don't agree with the fee, don't use their site. You can try selling it on Reddit watch exchange groups, your local FB marketplace, or something like that.

Aside from all the ethical matters we could discuss, trying to pull a fast one on C24 doesn't provide a lot of confidence for the buyer. So it actually might make it harder for your item to sell.

Going to lock this thread since it’s effectively asked and answered. Don’t do fraud, and if anyone approaches you with an offer like this, don’t buy watches off people doing scammy / dishonest things like this.
