I hear Omega had a stock of R17.8 movements that they put in round cases. Movement is circa 1943 according to the serial number. Does anyone have any idea when the watch is from? I am not sure how to date the case.
Thanks.

Reference CK230. Pretty sure these were introduced ca 1943.

No data for case serial numbers on these so you can't correlate to year of manufacture.

Serial seems closer to 1937/8, however movements were sometimes not cased for many years.

An American market watch denoted by the OXG marking on the movement.

No way with 9.698... this matches well with the case serial - IMO 1943 seems correct

Thank you!
At the risk of sounding foolish, can you tell me how you arrived at the reference?

My bad I was reading the first number as an 8.

Collecting for 25+ years, I've have and or had at least a dozen of this reference over the years.
