I just picked this up yesterday a beautiful 1958 Omega Seamaster 300 2913/4 with a nice tropical dial and very nice bakelite bezel insert. It also has the 7077 stretch bracelet but one of the endlink is not a number 6. Overall, the watch looks all original and unmolested. However, from what i read from an article about the 2913, the author mentioned that the 2913-4 should have a pointed hour hand and a small arrow minute hand. Is that statement accurate?

While I can't address this particular watch, engineering changes don't happen immediately. There will always be a bit of overlap as previous parts are used up.

It's more likely to have come from the factory this way than not.

My 2913-7 has broad arrows and I'm convinced that it left the factory that way as well...
Not sure the Seamaster pattern is as clear as the Speedmaster...

My 2913-4 is exactly like yours and is on a 7077 bracelet, but with the progressive numbers bezel, two n.6 endlinks.

Beauty. Are the early 2913 dials have gilt Arabic numerals too?

Would you mind sharing the first four digits of the movement number? You mentioned it's a 1958 SM300 so I was wondering if you have a confirmed extract. I've seen the BA hands on -4 or even -5, but they were mid to late 1959 production. The 7077 bracelet should come with the double spring-links IMHO.

The first 4 digits are 1655.

I have four 16,55x,xxx (two -3 and two -5) 2913s on my record and they were made between 4th Q of 1959 and 1st Q of 1960. One of them, -5 has the countdown bezel. Regardless, yours is very nice and comes with what appears to be an extremely rare original countdown bezel. Wear it in good health! 😀

Yes the bezel insert is original and in very good condition for its age. Is it uncommon for 2913 dials to turn tropical like mine?
