I love how it's 16 months to evaluate it, and not even give you a quote for service. How long will the servicing take after that?

I don’t mean asking for an electronic update. Someone can just pull up data from their chair in NY and update you.

Can you request a physical confirmation of your watch? As in; actually photo or physical eyes on your watch in Geneva and tell you it’s safe and moving to the right people to assess it.

edit to add: I sent a modern Vacheron to NA HQ for service under warranty, initial email said 6 weeks. 6 months later they told me warehouse misplaced my watch, a replacement will be issued. 8 emails sent back and forth, multiple VC reps confirmed to me my watch is moving along. Of course these are simply electronic confirmations, none had eyes on the watch since warehouse logged it in.

I will try to request. Thanks for the suggestion. Sorry about your Vacheron btw. Hope you get your watch soon.

This would be driving me nuts. I remember when sending in an early Seadweller for service in the early 80s only to have it lost and finally replaced by a newer Seadweller. Hope this will not be your situation.

I am flying to Geneva on my way to London this October 10 to visit the Rolex Heritage Department and inquire on the status of my Rolex GMT. I am hoping that they will have the inspection report already so i can finally bring the watch home.

He updated on another forum—to summarize, they’re still looking at it and will give him feedback early 2024.

This is definitely well above my knowledge but I'm looking forward to the outcome though. Hopefully it's an original dial, but wow, what a beautiful watch. Congrats.

I can't wait to hear what the verdict from Rolex will be.

Taking That Loong ..... I'd not trust Rolex verdict now. My completely unfounded Gut Feeling ? Original Dial from the Dial Manufacturer, but your Watch was not born with it. Dial from the Dial Books , probably startet Life without Dial Feet.

You might be right. It's certainly bizarre that it's taking so long

Apparently they are performing extensive research. 🙄

Sorry for the late update. We arrived in Geneva last October 31. I was able to speak with Tanya, the Rolex Heritage Department representative who informed me that my watch is in safe hands at their workshop. She explained that because of the unique dial of my GMT, they had to follow a specific protocol for verification and authentication. She said that they will be able to wrap up the inspection and submit a report by the first quarter of 2024. Keeping my fingers crossed.
