Cars. What are you driving?

Love the old Alfas and glad to see them importing to the US again. I drove the heck out of a couple GTVs and a Berlina. Great engine and transmission. Doesn't quite handle as well as the BMW 2002, on the other hand I crashed two of the BMWs and didn't crash an Alfa. I did do this to an Alfetta GTV, though:
That hall of shame trophy has lived in my toolbox for almost thirty years. Now I drive a 3.6R Subaru Outback. Boring, and I may be in need of a project car soon.

Looking at all the lovely 'classic' metal shown here, does anyone ever wonder if they're unwittingly driving around in a future classic?
Had this thought once when driving a Fiesta ST. Would entertain the current Golf R estate as a potential one as well.

I once owned a future classic. As such I limited my driving in it until I sold it in (I'm guessing) 1993. I got something like $10K for it. If I had kept it, kept down the miles, stayed up with the maintenance and stored it inside, it would now be worth around $15K, maybe 20 on a good day. As an investment, classic cars suck.

You need to use them and enjoy them. Don't save it for the next guy.

This applies to watches as well (although on a different scale) although it does cost a lot less to store an unused watch...

That's how I think of my 2005MY Lupo Gti - only c550 left on the road in UK. 125 bhp and very light, with ally panels. It's a good balance in terms of having some 'modern' features for comfort/convenience, but without driving-intrusive trickery like ESC and nonsense like a tiny capacity blown engine.

Ha,completely agree! I worked for VW when they released those hugely underated fun boxes.

Just throwing some old school Italian ingredient into the mix...😉

1980 Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0, on carbs of course.😁

Lots of work since i acquired it, 23 years ago.

Currently on a nut and bolt restoration. Sunroof soon to be deleted along with the rear seat, roll bar already installed.👍

Battery will be moved in the trunk, new alu radiator with twin cooling fans, new oil catch tank, new...i think the list will never going to end.🤨

GTV6 bonnet is to stay though...😉

X

Respect.

Another alfa driver.

I always preferred the 2.0s to the V6 (same with 75s) because the chassis balance easily compensated for the lesser power.
Just as eye candy, here's a rather distinctive GTV at our local AROC 'show' at Hever Castle last month:
Stunning!

I took my old Corvette out today to a local Cars & Coffee gathering.

It is 4 years older than my 145.022-68-ST Speedy. My Corvette is 55 years old this year.

I've owned it since February 2002, a little over 18 years so far.

At the moment I have 2 project cars.
Nissan Skyline R33 GTS-T and Volvo S40 T4. Very different cars. Both modified. Volvo is faster at the moment and I even had to install FIA half cage to compete on local competitions.

Skyline has RB25DET engine and that has very pretty engine note. At the moment it has 300kw.
But had some issues, because of the previous owner had made some shortcuts.

Volvo is boring inline 4, but very reliable. Volvo boosts at 2,4 bar and has turbo from Cummins diesel. Mods list is loooong 😀
Power is 340kw and 580nm.
Can do 282 km/h on standing mile.
1/4 mile speed is 188 km/h at 13.8 sec. Need to get it to move on 1/8 to run faster. Traction issues.

Have to take proper photos of them both!

Ha ha, mine is 13 days younger than my 145.022-68ST 😀

Edit pics, because a thread without pics is useless
