First outing with these. Thanks OF for pointing out the advantages and dangers. Anyone who owns a SS Reverso knows these are scratch magnets. I have scratched the hell out of mine including some nasty scuffing on the upper housing. Careful use with a plastic resin stirring stick as a backing has produced nice results. No before pics unfortunately. These are great but be careful not to go too far.
The answer is just enough to remove scuffs and scratches. Short intervals across the whole section, not just the spot, wipe, inspect, repeat ...
Have never tried these on a watch- as I’ve mentioned in other threads, I’ve used Mothers with a q-tip on polished bezels and case parts with just the pressure of the q-tip, then wipe with a soft cloth and the results have always been pleasing. Can’t say it removed scratches, but did brighten up the shiny parts dramatically.
These cloths are abrasive and do remove material so yes, deep scratches would cause you to remove a lot of surrounding metal. I think this is where people go wrong.
There are sharp edges all over that case...just not obvious ones... For reference I took these at the factory in the polishing room... Using proper machinery is the only really safe way to polish, but the knowledge has to be there as well. Most "home" polish work does more damage than good, so if anyone is considering it, follow Larry's example and go easy. Cheers, Al
