Hi guys, I always see such immaculate pieces on this forum so I thought I would ask about Cape Cod. I have used it on SS before. However, I am a bit wary of using it on solid gold or gold cap. Is it safe to use on these and is there any technique one should employ? If anyone has before and after shots they could post, I would highly appreciate it. Cheers
I like Fabulustre polishing cloth with jeweler's rouge. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fabulustre-...763?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eca3379cbPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Blitz cloth. Works great, so long as you use it lightly. http://www.ebay.com/itm/390390287049Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Good luck, gatorcpa
Thanks everybody for the suggestions. I will try to get one of these over here in Europe and see how it works. Just a question: Will I take off the sharp edges with these cloths, if I am too enthusiastic with my polishing?
Edges? Probably not. I would be concerned with gold plated or capped watches. The gold is rather thin to begin with. Operative word is "gentle". The object here is clean off dirt and tarnish, not make it shiny. Hope this helps, gatorcpa
I use a buffing stick with jewelers rouge. I find it gives you control with angles but as Gatorcpa says - be gentle. https://www.cousinsuk.com/catalog/consumables/buff-sticks
